Durga Deore Durga Deore hails from Nashik, Maharashtra. She is a product of the Eklavya Athletics Academy in Nashik, Durga Deore, at the young age of 14 has already proved to be a bright prospect for the future. A mid-distance runner like her compatriot Anjana Thamke, her best performance came in the National School Games in Etava in February 2013 where she came 2nd in the 400 meter with a timing of 59.4s, and stood first in the 600 meter category with a time of 135.4s. Durga Deore also came 2nd in the National Cross-Country Championship (3 km) which was held at Balewadi, Pune in 2012.[1] She bagged Gold in the 600 meter event in the U-14 category at the 2012 West Zone Junior Athletic Tournament held in Pune[2] and also in the U-14 All-India Junior Athletics in Lucknow where she sprinted to the title leaving behind all her rivals by an astounding 50 metres.[3] Durga Deore also won silver medal in the 600 meter race at the 25th National Inter-Zonal Junior Athletics championships (2013) held in Kochi, Kerala.[4] Abraham Rajan Abraham Rajan (born 1958) is a distinguished Indian ex-athlete who is currently a coach with SAI (Sports Authority of India) and the SDAT(Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu) at the SDAT Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium facilities. Abraham Rajan won the gold in the 800m at the 1981 Asian Athletics Championships with a time of 1:50.21.[1] This was the crowning achievement of his athletics career which also included distinguished performances at the national and collegiate level.
