After over 50 years of successful Easter carnivals, the Sunland- Tujunga Chamber of Commerce held yet another this past week- end, April 6 through April 8. Rides, games, food and live music held at Sunland Park kept families occupied on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Easter egg hunts were held for children on both Saturday and Sunday with a special appearance from the Easter bunny. Ronald McDonald also made a guest appearance to visit the kids and participate in Saturday’s festivities. The entertainment was ongoing, giving families plenty of time to enjoy the live music, carnival treats and a wide variety of games, funhouses and rides. Children danced with their parents to songs performed by bands such as Papa Stew’s Band on Saturday and The Happiness Country Band and Mighty Joe Young Band on Sunday. Being sure to take advantage of the rare opportunity, parents made sure to get pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny that also participated in the many activities. The carnival packed up Sunday night but will be back next year for another encore. Students awaited the arrival of the Easter bunny for weeks with director Nita Imm preparing arts and crafts, reading Easter stories and teaching Easter songs to the Darling Ducks (3-year-old program) and the Busy Bears (4-year-old program). Parents lent a hand and were in attendance for the Easter egg hunt, which included a song performance from the children. Wine & Kabob – A New Tradition

New in Montrose – owners Rafik and Ruben opened their doors on Feb. 4 – this European Mediter- ranean restaurant boasts some of the best food and outdoor views in town. Located at the corner of Broadview and Ocean View on the upper floor, the interior has been newly redecorated in a sophisticated manner. Wine & Kabob offers a wide selection of wine to pair with their fantastic food. The appetizers are unique, with a particular favorite being the yogurt jalapeno dip. They also have a roasted beet and poached pear salad that brings a smile to the face of diners. Their chicken Lula kabob has just the right blend of spices and is cooked to perfection. The chicken breast kabob is juicy and tender, the saffron rice is fluffy and the grilled okra is a special treat. Lunch specials are served Monday through Friday, starting at a modest $9. Come to try the food and you’ll be spoiled by the service. Wine & Kabab is located at 3600 Ocean View Blvd. in Montrose.
