Welcome to the 24th Annual Unity Days! Unity Days is an event where the community comes together to enjoy long-time friends, food and family activities. Everyone will enjoy the rides and games and of course the wonderful food selections from area restaurants. Those that enjoy a little competition can partake in the international bocce tournament. For your enjoyment we will have live music daily. Saturday evening at dusk there will be a fi rework display guaranteed to impress. On Sunday be sure to grab a spot on Mayfi eld Road to watch the parade which will begin at 1:00 p.m. from Mayland Shopping Center and travel to Golden Gate Plaza. An enormous gratitude of thanks is extended to the city employees, commission members and a host of volunteers whose endless hours of work help make the event possible. We also appreciate the continued generous support from festival sponsors and local vendors. Thank you to our community who support the festival year after year. All the efforts and support help make the event a true success! Parade route is from Mayland Shopping Center to Golden Gate Shopping Center. HailingH from New York, from a place that produced coaching legends Vince Lombardi and Joe Paterno, and beingb known as a riverboat gambler, Sam Rutigliano, former coach of the Cleveland Browns, will forever be rememberedr by fans for his gutsy call in the “Red Right 88” game played by the Kardiac Kids. However, Coach Sam,S who chose to stay in Cleveland because ‘this is where he wants to live’, has seen a lot during a lifetime ofo coaching across the world, beginning in the high school ranks in New York and Connecticut, and spanning alla the way to the NFL Europe. Even with the vast coaching resume, Clevelanders will most remember his relationshipr with Brian Sipe and those Kardiac Kids, and overseeing his greatest accomplishment, the Inner CircleC – an anonymous support group to help players with substance abuse issues. While his overall record withw the Browns was 47-50, he was one of only four Cleveland Browns coaches to win the NFL Coach of the YearY award, once in 1979 & again in 1980. 22017017 CCitizensitizens ooff tthehe YYearear Cecelia & David Paponetti The Citizen of the Year award is bestowed upon individuals to reward and recognize a noteworthy contribution to the community.
