Royal triple bill broadcast live in cinemas across the UK

Audiences can experience works by the celebrated choreographers , Kenneth MacMillan and Rudolf Nureyev live in cinemas across the UK on Tuesday 5 November in a triple bill of Concerto / Enigma Variations / Act III starting at 7.15pm. For an afternoon treat, the ballet encore screening will take place on Sunday 10 November at 2pm.

The Royal Ballet’s triple bill of Concerto, Enigma Variations and Raymonda Act III displays the versatility of the Company. MacMillan’s Concerto embraces both the classical and the contemporary, while Ashton’s Enigma Variations, inspired by the life of Edward Elgar, has a quintessentially British charm. Raymonda Act

III meanwhile, offers audiences the opportunity to experience the choreographic skills of renowned Russian dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev.

The evening will see role debuts in Concerto for Anna Rose O’Sullivan, James Hay, Yasmine Naghdi and Mayara Magri. These are followed by role debuts for Laura Morera as Lady Elgar, Francesca Hayward as Dorabella and Matthew Ball as Troyte in Enigma Variations. In Raymonda Act III Russian dancers and Royal Ballet Principals Vadim Muntigirov and Natalia Osipova take on the technical challenges of Nureyev’s choreography, in his re-imagining of the final act of Petipa’s grand .

The Royal Opera House cinema broadcasts offer audiences the best seat in the house, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. Audience members are never far from a performance at the Royal Opera House, with most people in the UK based within thirty miles of a cinema screening. As well as being shown in the UK, Concerto/ Enigma Variations/ Raymonda Act III will be broadcast to more than 1,000 cinemas in 53 countries around the world.

The Royal Ballet Concerto/ Enigma Variations/ Raymonda Act III triple bill will be live broadcast in cinemas on Tuesday 5 November at 7.15pm with an encore screening on Sunday 10 November at 2pm. Share on social using #ROHconertomixed.

The Royal Opera House celebrates 11 years of live cinema broadcasts in 2019, leading the way in delivering world-class opera and ballet around the world. In the 2019/20 Cinema Season, our broadcasts will reach more than 1,600 cinemas in more than 53 countries worldwide.

The Royal Opera House has seen huge growth in the influence of independent cinemas in the UK, now collectively accounting for almost half of our network. In addition to being shown in 600 UK cinemas, our productions regularly broadcast to over 1,000 cinemas internationally through our partnership with Trafalgar Releasing.

Audiences are also able to access a vast array of livestreamed and on-demand content via the Royal Opera House’s official YouTube channel, which is the most subscribed YouTube channel of any arts organization in the world.
