  • ANNUAL REPORT 2017 When We Have Hope, We Discover Powers
ANNUAL REPORT 2017 When we have hope, we discover powers within ourselves we may have never known — the power to make sacrifices, to endure, to heal and to love. Once we choose hope, everything is possible. CONTENTS 1 Message from the Chairman of the Board and the President & CEO 2 Research 5 Paralysis Resource Center 7 Quality of Life Grants Program 8 Advocacy 10 Team Reeve® 12 Resource Map 14 Team LeGrand 15 A Magical Evening 17 Special Events 19 Donor List 22 Financials Message from the Chairman of the Board and the President & CEO Much of our world is driven by chance. An idea. A possibility. As Christopher Reeve once said, “So many of our dreams at first seem impossible . .” Then along comes a spark of hope. “. then they seem improbable . .” Followed by an unwavering confidence, conviction and belief. “. and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” In perhaps the simplest terms, that’s what we do. Transform possibilities into realities. If we were to measure our work by our goal—to change lives—2017 was certainly a banner year. In fact, our small yet mighty organization continues to prove that every impossible dream has an inevitable solution when you never give up and charge forward. What was only an idea a couple of years ago, the use of epidural stimulation in spinal cord injury recovery, is now an FDA-approved study, signaling the most significant chapter in our journey to bring an effective treatment to our John M. Hughes, Chairman community. Along the way, we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of families through our Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) programs.
