FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Greenways Hall Council has not made any decision regarding the future of the Greenways Hall, this is a correction to the detail provided in the December newsletter.

Greenways History – Cr David Loxton is collecting photos and memorabilia that relate to the Greenways settlement to be used on some information boards which will be erected commemorating the settlement and its pioneering families. Maintenance McIntyre Street Reserve Council have recently undertaken work in removing the introduced weed species from the McIntyre Street reserve. Council acknowledge that the reserve does not look in pristine condition at the moment but are confident that after twelve months, with replanting of local species by Coast Care and further weed control, the reserve will again compliment the area.

Golf Course Redevelopment Plan Amendment Report The District Council of Robe, Robe Golf Course Expansion Development Plan Amendment (DPA) has been prepared by Council under the provisions of the Development Act 1993 and is now available for comment.

The DPA seeks to review land located within the Open Space Zone (Recreation Policy Area) and Coastal Conservation Zone to the south of the Robe Township for the purpose of accommodating an expansion of the existing golf course, including the provision for six new holes and an integrated residential and tourist accommodation development.

The DPA is proposing the following amendments to Council’s Development Plan:  Rezone portion of Section 285 (Hd Waterhouse) and Allotments 148 & 149 (FP 205494) to Open Space zone - Recreation Policy Area 4.  Include portion of Section 133 (Hd Waterhouse) & Allotment 148 in a new residential precinct and introduce associated policy.  Update the Non-complying table and Category 1 list within the Open Space zone relating to residential development, tourist accommodation and land division within the new precinct.  Insert a Concept Plan guiding the future development of the land.  Amendments to the Desired Character statements of the Open Space zone, Recreation Policy Area and Coastal Conservation Zone.

The draft DPA and Investigations will be available for public inspection from Thursday 17 December 2015 until Friday 19 February 2016 during normal office hours at the front counter of Council’s office at Royal Circus Robe, as well as being accessible on Council’s website at www.council.robe.sa.gov.au. A copy of the Development Plan Amendment can be downloaded free of cost from Council’s website or a hard copy purchased from the Council office for $150 (full colour) or for $50 (black-and-white only), or a CD-ROM copy purchased for $5.

Written submissions regarding the draft amendment will be accepted by the Council until 5.00 pm on Friday 19 February 2016. All submissions should be addressed to Council’s Chief Executive, District Council of Robe, PO Box 1, Robe SA 5276. The written submission should clearly indicate whether you will wish to speak at the public meeting on your submission.

Copies of all written submissions received will be available for inspection by interested persons at the Council’s office from Monday 22 February 2016 until the date of the public meeting.

A public meeting may be held if required at the Robe Bowling Club, Victoria Street Robe, on Tuesday 1 March 2016 commencing at 7pm at which time interested persons may be heard in relation to the DPA and the submissions. The public meetings may not be held if no submission indicates an interest in speaking at the public hearing.

Beach Access Strategy Council is seeking your comments of a Draft Beach Access Strategy that Council has prepared. Council has developed the strategy to guide Council in managing access to the beaches adjacent Robe while protecting the dunes. A copy of the Strategy can be obtained from the Council office or Council’s website. An information afternoon has been set aside for Friday the 15th of January 2016 from 2.30 pm till 4.00 pm in the Council Chambers for interested persons to find out more about the strategy and to provide feedback to Council.

COUNCIL NEWS Parking Explained Within the township of Robe there are some parking restrictions. These are in place to provide for the safe movement of traffic and pedestrian. The following information is to assist visitors and residents to understand some of these parking controls.

The NO STOPPING sign means you are not permitted to stop unless traffic conditions require (e.g. in a queue of traffic). These zones are created for road safety. A solid yellow line also means you are not permitted to stop.

A vehicle must not park in a Bus Zone at the time indicated (in front of Bendigo Bank Thursdays 10.00am to 12.00pm)

A vehicle must not park in a Loading Zone unless the vehicle is a commercial vehicle (utility, truck or van) that is dropping off or picking up goods and is no longer that 30 minutes. A station wagon, sedan, hatch, four wheel drive or coupe are NOT classified as a commercial vehicle.

This area is only for vehicles that correctly display a valid permit that is recognised by Council.

Disabled Persons Parking is only for vehicles that are displaying a current Disabled Persons Parking Permit issued under Part 3D of the Motor Vehicles Act 1959.

Timed Limited Parking enables anyone to use the available parking spaces for the signed time.

Other areas where not to park;  Obstructing a Driveway or Entrance.  Within 10 metres of an INTERSECTION without traffic lights.  On or within 20 metres of the approach or 10 metres of the departure side of a PEDESTRIAN CROSSING regardless of whether there are any signs or lines.  On any PARK LANDS, RESERVES, and PUBLIC PLACES.  Within one metre of a FIRE HYDRANT or FIRE PLUG.  On a FOOTPATH which is the area from the kerb to the property boundary, this includes lawns and gardens. The section of FOOTPATH which enables access to premises is part of the FOOTPATH and is not available for parking. For further advice and assistance contact the Council office Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm.
