During the design phase of the building energy system a detailed simulation model This contribution describes a simulation-based method of the building construction and the HVAC system – the for the design and evaluation of building control strategies digital twin - serves as the controlled system. The for new planned buildings. The approach consists of a simulation model is delivering the necessary systems combination of a digital twin of the real building and its states as input signals for the rule-based control strategy. HVAC system, modelled as a physical Modelica model Thereafter, the calculated control signals are sent back to and the openHAB software package, for the the simulation model. In our approach this bi-directional implementation of correspondent building control data exchange takes place between a home automation strategies. For this purpose, openHAB and the Modelica software, the open Home Automation Bus (openHAB) model is bi-directional coupled in real-time. In this way, software platform (openHAB, 2019) and the Modelica new control strategies can be tested and improved under simulation tool Dymola in real-time within the local consideration of the dynamic system behavior in the network. For this purpose, the network User Datagram building design phase. If the system behavior of the Protocol (UDP, https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc768) is used.

There is rapid interest growing in the use of smart, connected devices. The developing world market for smart technology is evolving to adopt and adapt to the interconnected world of devices leading to the Internet of Things (IoT) everywhere. This research paper presents the design, development, and deployment of a prototype for the secure wireless home automation system with OpenHAB 2. We employed the use of two (2) high-performance microcontrollers, namely, the Arduino Mega 2560, interfaced with a 16-channel relay, and Raspberry Pi Model B, running the OpenHAB software. The Raspberry Pi functioned as the server to develop a prototype of an automated smart home that is remotely controllable from both a web application and an Android mobile app.

This article is published online with Open Access by IOS Press and distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License 4.0 (CC BY-NC 4.0). doi:10.3233/AISE210076 A Mandami Fuzzy Controller for Handling a OpenHAB Smart Home Pablo PICO-VALENCIA a and Juan A. HOLGADO-TERRIZA b,1 a Pontificia Universidad Catolica´ del Ecuador, Esmeraldas, Ecuador b Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain Abstract. Fuzzy control systems are widely used to carry out control actions where variables with a certain degree of ambiguity are involved. Such control actions are modelled based on fuzzy rules that are expressed in a language analogous to that used by humans to conceive their reality. In this sense, fuzzy controllers can be ap- plied in emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) aimed at con- trolling the real world through a set of objects interconnected to the Internet. This article presents a fuzzy controller of Mamdani-type developed in Matlab. This con- troller is integrated into a smart home– created by the OpenHAB tool– using REST- ful services. The results of the evaluation reveal that the integration of the fuzzy controller with smart home can provide an accurate control of comfort specifically in this case. In addition, a better organization of the control rules was also possible using the proposed fuzzy controller especially when large systems are developed. Keywords. fuzzy controller, Mamdani, internet of things, smart home, OpenHAB 1. Introduction Fuzzy logic is an alternative to the classic logic that proposes the modelling of systems where variables are handled with a certain level of imprecision (i.e., temperature, air pol- lution and tank filling level).
