During the 29 years she served as a reading instructor, Dr. Van Citters was known for being innovative and detail oriented. She demonstrated an impressive commitment to helping meet the educational needs of students, whether it was by promoting basic literacy or advancing critical thinking and reading skills. Dr. Van Citters upheld high standards in her classroom, created a learning- centered environment and collaborated with other faculty to help students reach their full potential. In addition, she was heavily involved in the development of the college’s reading program, and she assisted with the AB 705 curricular re-sequencing.
