Candlelight Vigil at Aurora Planned Parenthood Site About 350 people, including Catholics from the Rockford Diocese, gathered for a candlelight prayer vigil outside the Aurora Planned Parenthood facility April 13. Among those present were Jennifer Collins, director of the diocesan Life and Family Evangelization Office, and Father Christopher DiTomo, pastor of St. Gall Parish in Elburn, along with some of his parishioners. The vigil was part of the fourth annual National Day of Prayer and Protest Against Planned Parenthood, which took place at hundreds of locations across the country on April 13.

Marmion Academy Drill Team First at Army Nationals On March 30 over 2.000 Army JROTC Cadets converged on the Greater Richmond (Va) Convention Center for the 2019 Army Drill Team Championships. The Marmion Academy Flannigan Rifles Drill Team placed first overall in the Armed Division at the competition. This year 103 teams from 85 schools travelled to Virginia from 25 different states, making it the largest single service drill meet in the history of the JROTC. SGM John Gissel, team commander senior Brant DeMoss, and executive officer senior Nathan Konen direct the rifle team. Several team members also earned individual honors. The team will go to Daytona, Fla., to compete at the National High School Drill Team Championships on May 3.
