There are a thousand stories and anecdotes of players and games. I have personally played in thousands of games on a friendly competitive basis against and with thousands of fellow players. I play for the fun of it, but I have more fun when I win. Sometimes I have more fun than at other times. In a period of over 40 years, I have set out to win against the opponent as a person in only two instances. In one case, the fellow was the host at his club. I went to go into the hospitality room and he told me I couldn’t go in because he didn’t know me. He viewed me as a threat to his dominance in the tournament. He was slightly overweight and as it turned out, we ended up play- ing for the championship.
