STATE of MINNESOTA WHEREAS: Joseph Patrick Mauer was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on April 19, 1983; and WHEREAS: Upon graduating from high school, Joe was selected by the Minnesota Twins as the number one overall pick in the first round of the 2001 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft; and WHEREAS: On April 5, 2004, Joe made his Major League debut at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, going 2-for-3 with two walks in the Twins' 7-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians; and WHEREAS: He became the first catcher to ever win the American League batting title, won three AL batting crowns overall, was a six-time AL All-Star, earned five Louisville Slugger "Silver Slugger Awards" and three Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, and was the 2009 AL Most Valuable Player; and WHEREAS: Joe spent his entire 15-year Major League career with the Minnesota Twins, and on September 30, 2018, he played his final game, retiring with a career .306 batting average, 2,123 hits, 428 doubles, 30 triples, 143 home runs, 923 RBI, 1,018 runs scored, and 939 walks; and WHEREAS: Joe ranks first in Minnesota Twins history for doubles, times on base, and games played as catcher; second in games played, hits, and walks; third in batting average, runs and total bases; fifth in RBI; and eleventh in home runs; and WHEREAS: Joe and his wife, Maddie, are active community leaders, annually hosting fundraisers and volunteering countless hours to various charities throughout Twins Territory; and WHEREAS: In 2019, Joe will become the eighth Minnesota Twin to have his number retired by the organization, joining Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, Bert Blyleven, and Tom Kelly. -

The new partnership will bring some of the most exciting prospects in the game to Blue Wahoos Stadium alongside the storied legacy of Twins baseball. Twins history began in 1961 when Washington Senators president Calvin Griffith made the historic decision to move his family’s team to the Midwest, settling on the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Minnesota. The new team was named after the state’s famous Twin Cities and began their inaugual season with a talented roster featuring Harmon Killebrew, Bob Allison, Camilo Pascual, and Jim Lemon. Homegrown talents Jim Kaat, Zoilo Versalles, Jimmie Hall, and Tony Oliva combined with the Twins already potent nucleus to make the team a force to be reckoned with in the 1960s. -

PAUL, MN — The Minnesota Twins announced today that former Twins first baseman Justin Morneau has been elected to the club’s Hall of Fame. Morneau will become the 34th member of the Twins Hall of Fame when he is inducted during an on-field pre-game ceremony at Target Field before the Twins host the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, May 23 in a game presented by Sheboygan Sausage Company. The Twins Hall of Fame, which honors players, managers, coaches and off-field personnel who have contributed to the organization’s growth and success since Minnesota broke into the major leagues in 1961, was created as part of the club’s 40th Season Celebration in 2000. The inaugural class of Twins Hall of Famers—Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett and Calvin Griffith — was inducted on August 12, 2000. July 14, 2016 comScore Study Finds Advertising on Premium Publisher Sites Drives Higher Ad Effectiveness Premium Publishers are 3x More Effective in Driving Mid-Funnel Brand Lift Metrics Such as Favorability, Consideration and Intent to Recommend RESTON, Va., July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- comScore (NASDAQ: SCOR) today announced the publication of its latest report, The Halo Effect: How Advertising on Premium Publishers Drives Higher Ad Effectiveness. The research and resulting study examines the branding effectiveness of digital display ads appearing on Digital Content Next (DCN)* member sites compared to non-member sites. The study revealed that this segment of publishers delivered significantly better branding effectiveness results across a number of measures. The primary driver of this increased effectiveness is the 'halo effect' of the contextual environment in which the ads are seen. With the rapid growth of programmatic advertising in recent years, concerns have arisen about whether digital ad impressions are becoming increasingly commoditized. While more efficient in some ways, this approach can sometimes overlook other important factors that determine advertising effectiveness, such as media quality. comScore sought to understand the extent to which media quality mattered in driving advertising effectiveness, and the value of premium inventory. Key findings from the study include: Display ads on DCN premium publisher sites had an average of 67% higher brand lift than non-DCN publishers, confirming that premium sites deliver premium performance. Premium publishers are more than 3x more effective in driving mid-funnel brand lift metrics such as favorability, consideration and intent to recommend. Premium publisher effectiveness is driven in part by higher viewability rates which include lower levels of invalid traffic. -
