December 2018 LAKESIDE NEWS Silver Jubilee Edition

Silver Jubilee Charity Gala Celebrating 25 years of being a silver lining in the community, 600 guests gathered at Marina Bay Sands on 2 November 2018 for an unforgettable evening. Joining as Guest-of-Honour was Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies.

The Silver Jubilee Charity Gala raised $430,000 for disadvantaged children, youths, seniors, and families. Lakeside has been able to help over 7,000 people every year, thanks to the support from kind donors and volunteers.

Many of our beneficiaries have emerged stronger in the face of life challenges. In appreciation, Lakeside’s children and seniors sang their hearts out in We are Stronger, an original piece written by Dominic Chin from the Music and Drama Company.

Never Alone in Distress Distress, a thought-provoking dance, conveys what our beneficiaries face in times of crisis. For 25 years, Lakeside walked with the most vulnerable members of our community, making sure they are never alone in distress.

Finding Peace and Joy Peace: That Boy’s Balloon and Joy saw our Creative Arts Programme and Student Care children display their musical talents alongside seasoned musicians, professional singers, and an artist. At Lakeside, we take special care of disadvantaged children, ensuring they get opportunities in learning, playing, and areas of interest, such as performing arts.

Hope Springs Forth Hope saw our seniors in a jazzy dance number, accompanied by the legendary Robert Fernando. The seniors astounded everyone with their energy and vigour. Aside from line dance, Lakeside’s Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness engages seniors in a variety of interest groups to keep them engaged and fulfilled.
