Cloud Frequently Asked Questions - General

1. What are the system requirements for the cloudLibrary app? a. iOS (iPhone/iPad)– version 8.0 or later b. Mac – OS X 10.6 or later c. Windows – Windows 7, Windows 8 (excluding R.T.), and Windows 10 d. Android – version 4.1 or later e. Kindle Fire – 2nd generation or later

2. Do I need to create an account specifically for the cloudLibrary? a. No, the cloudLibrary will use your existing library account. There is no need to create a separate account.

3. How long can I keep an ? How many e- can I have out at one time? a. You may check out up to 6 titles and have an additional 6 titles on hold. All items check out for 14 days.

4. How can I switch to another library or select a different account? a. In the “My Books’ menu, tap on the person icon. Add another library or account by tapping ‘Add Account’. Once the account has been added, simply tap on the account to switch to that account.

5. Can I return an eBook early? a. Yes, you can return a early. Go to ‘My Books’ and click on the List View in the upper right-hand corner. Once in list view, click on the ‘return’ button.

6. How do I renew an eBook? a. The cloudLibrary app does not have a renewal function. If a book is on hold it will automatically transfer to the next person in the queue. If the book is not on hold you can go through the checkout process again by simply going to history and click on the title you would like to borrow if available, or put on hold.

7. Can I cancel a hold? a. If you want to cancel a hold, go to the ‘My Books’ page and click on ‘Holds.’ This will show you the books you have on hold. Tap on the title that you would like to take off Hold and tap on the ‘Remove Hold’ button.

8. Can I listen to my eAudiobook offline? a. Offline listening is available via mobile apps only. Offline listening is not available via the Web Streaming or PC and MAC streaming of the . Note: Traveling in and out of network coverage may result in a loss of connection of an active download or playing of an eAudiobook. You may need to tap the download and/or play button to resume when this occurs.

9. How do I change the viewing options (font size, margin size, night mode) while an e-book? a. To get to the settings menu while in the book, tap the middle of the page and the menu will appear. Then tap on the bookmark icon in the top menu bar. Here you can add a note and tap save.

11. How do I retrieve bookmarks? a. For iOS: Tap on the middle of the screen to bring up the book menu. Tap on the menu icon on the far right, then tap on ‘Bookmarks & Notes.’ A list of your bookmarks will appear. b. For Mac and Windows computer: click on the ribbon menu on the left-hand side of the menu and click the Bookmarks tab. c. For Android, Kindle Fire, and Chrome: Tap in the middle of the book to bring up the book menu. Tap the 3-dot menu on the far right of the top bar menu. Next, tap on ‘Go To’, then tap ‘Bookmarks and Highlights’. A list of your bookmarks will appear.

12. How much space do I need on my device for an eAudiobook? a. File sizes of eAudiobooks vary. However, most eAudiobook files are less than 2 GB. The size of the book is displayed when selecting the book details of the title. This can be done by selecting the art in multiple places in the apps.

13. What happens when I update my cloudLibrary app? a. Improvements to the cloudLibrary app are made through app updates. You will not lose your checked- out books, holds, etc.

14. Why can’t I find a specific eBook? a. We most likely do not own a copy of that e-book. must purchase an e-book in the same way they purchase physical books. You may fill out a ‘Suggest a Purchase’ form to request we purchase a specific title.

15. Why do I have to wait for an e-book? Aren’t e-books unlimited? a. Libraries must purchase an e-book or e-Audiobook in the same way they purchase physical books. The publishers require us to abide by one copy/one user model just as we do with physical books.
