80 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study City of Kwinana City of Rockingham South of the border with Kwinana is Rockingham Horse N2 Beach, which can be accessed from the car park just north of the Kwinana Grain Terminal jetty. A dog exercise beach begins south of this car park and continues south under the
I jetty into Rockingham Naval Memorial Park and down to Wells Street.
The Memorial Park is a moderate activity node that provides unique aesthetic and educational experiences through its various memorial features (Photo 21A), as well as other park- N3 based recreation.
C2 Rockingham Naval Incorporating a small beach access node at Roe Street, the N1 Memorial Park Dune path connector runs south to the start of Rockingham C2 Beach. A unique use of this stretch of foreshore, starting from the Memorial Park down to Victoria Street, is its use as a Photo 21A: Rockingham Naval Memorial Park. N2 Rockingham Beach Road landing site for sky diving. A designated near-shore water ski Rockingham Beach area also lies adjacent.
N4 The eastern portion of Rockingham Beach is classified as a N3 Rockingham minor activity node, with extensive but basic play and picnic C3 Foreshore Patterson Road Reserve facilities. Esplanade Safety Bay Rd The main Rockingham Beach node begins at Wanliss Street
Read St and stretches west to the start of Rockingham Esplanade, where universal beach access is provided. It meets all the Map 21B: a ification 0 200 500m 1km criteria for a major activity node: extensive park, beach and water based recreation, including a dive site and beach Legend volleyball; beachside dining experiences (Photo 21B), commercial premises with tourism value adjacent to the Beach Access Major Dune Path node; extensive use by water and park-based commercial N1 Node N4 Activity Node C2 Connector operators; and a range of special events. Minor Urban Industrial area N2 Activity Node I C3 Connector After a short urban connector that includes the Catalpa Moderate N3 Activity Node Escape Memorial, Rockingham Esplanade continues west as a long moderate activity node. It includes a café adjacent to Photo 21B: Beachside restaurants at Rockingham Esplanade. the jetty at Fisher Street and two boat launching ramps at the main park.

82 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study Mangles Bay Foreshore begins with an urban connector - its primary use being for dog exercise, which is permitted
N2 along the entirety of the beach stretching from Rockingham Esplanade to the boat launching area. The eastern portion of the foreshore is classified as a moderate activity node, with C2 B Point Peron two water sports clubs and boat launching facilities (Photo Point Peron Boat Launching Area Recreation Area 22A). A near-shore boat mooring area also complements these boat facilities.
Mangles Bay Recreation Area To the east of the Garden Island causeway is a Boat harbour N3 node, also containing a sea rescue group, community and C3 commercial clubs, and picnic facilities. A dune path connector that permits dog exercise lies directly north. Point Peron Road The main Point Peron recreation area is classified as a minor Memorial Dr activity node. It provides nature, aesthetic and educational Photo 22A: Boats at Mangles Bay. C2 experiences throughout its numerous walking trails and lookout points, which can be accessed by several small car parks (Photo 22B). The entire area provides dive and snorkelling opportunities, however these are mainly focused around the south of the cape. Dog exercise is technically permitted around the outside of the cape, although the

C3 A long dune path connector then links Point Peron to Shoalwater, with beach access provided from several holiday Map 22B: a ification 0 200100 500m 1km sites, and with dog exercise permitted along the entire foreshore. Legend Stretching from the Cape to Port Kennedy, and encapsulating Minor Boat Harbour Dune Path Penguin Island, the near-shore marine area falls under the N2 Activity Node B Node C2 Connector Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, which places restrictions on Moderate Urban N3 C3 Activity Node Connector fishing and boating activities.

84 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study Boundary Road
C3 The shared path that ended at Rockingham Esplanade recommences at the northernmost part of the Shoalwater North Shoalwater foreshore - classified as an urban connector with showers Beach N2 and bike racks adjacent to Boundary Road and street parking stretching south to the main car park. Here begins a minor activity node, with changing facilities to facilitate informal Arcadia Drive Safety Bay Road and commercial specialist water-based recreation.
C2 A long dune path connector then stretches south to a second minor activity node at Lions Park, which is also used for specialist water-based recreation although has no N2 formal changing facilities. As well as basic play and picnic facilities, the park has exercise equipment and is also used C2 for commercial group fitness. The node also provides access to the short dog exercise area that stretches south through Photo 23A: Jetty at Mersey Point. C3 the dune connector to Mersey Point. N3 Safety Bay Road Mersey Point Bent St Like the previous two nodes, Mersey Point provides both N3 Boat Ramp park and specialist water based recreation. However C3 Carlisle St The Boat Ramp Pond elevating it to a moderate activity node are a small café and commercial operators, including trips to the nearby Penguin N3 Island from the jetty (Photo 23A) that is currently undergoing C3 Tern Island re-construction. Beach wheelchair hire is also available.
The shared path continues along a short urban connector and into Tern Island: a moderate activity node with a boat Map 23B: a ification 0 200100 500m 1km launching ramp, yacht club and land-based recreation. While no formal paths are provided, the island itself can be Legend accessed from the beach (Photo 23B), and is a popular fishing spot. A further moderate activity node is found at Bent Street Minor Dune Path N2 Activity Node C2 Connector Boat Ramp, which includes an adjacent café and access to
Moderate Urban Safety Bay Dog Beach. It is most notable for providing access N3 C3 Activity Node Connector to the popular kite and windsurfing area of The Pond: a world famous kite and wind surfing location that holds informal,

86 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study Malibu Road Safety Bay Dog Beach stretches from the boat ramp in the C3 west to Donald Drive in the east. The boat ramp here marks the start of a long moderate activity node, which includes N3 the main Safety Bay Beach car park at the east. It includes Safety Bay fitness equipment, a basketball court, changing facilities, Beach lookout point and a dedicated universal beach access ramp (Photo 24A).
C3 South of Safety Bay Beach, a long urban connector begins,
Safety Bay Road broken up mainly by beach access nodes characterised by small car parks, bike racks and showers (Photo 24B). Waikiki N2 The exception is Waikiki Beach, which also contains picnic Beach facilities and a toilet block. Warnbro Beach
C3 The conservation reserve widens slightly into dune path connectors south of Michael Street, and stretches down to Photo 24A: Beach access ramp at Safety Bay Beach. Road N1 St Malo Cove car park.

88 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study Safety C2 Bay Road The Warnbro and Port Kennedy coastline (Photo 25A) N1 proceeds in a similar fashion to that of Waikiki. It is characterised by minimal developments, with only beach C2 access nodes provided that include small car parks and no formal changing facilities.

92 — Perth Coastal Recreational Use Study Dog exercise is permitted along the extent of Secret Harbour Warnbro Sound Avenue foreshore, stretching south to the start of Lagoon Park. This minor activity node also contains active recreation C2 infrastructure, a walking trail around the lake, and is used for personal training.
A separate moderate activity node is located adjacent to Boulevar Lagoon Park N2 ur d Anstey Road rbo a Secret Harbour Beach. This is notable as containing one of H t e cr Se the few patrolled SLS beaches south of the river (Photo 27A),
Secret Harbour Beach N3 including a recently re-developed SLS club with universal changing facilities and small commercial precinct. The beach is also used for stand-up surfing lessons by several commercial operators.
A long dune path connector connects Secret Harbour and Golden Bay beaches, however there is currently no shared Photo 27A: Surf Life Saving patrol at Secret Harbour Beach. C2 path linking the two locations. The connector does however contain numerous lookout spots along the beach access paths (Photo 27B).
Dampier Drive Golden Bay Beach is a minor activity node, with a small car park and basic play and picnic facilities. Golden Bay Beach N2

N2 Marillana Drive The shared path commences south of Golden Bay Beach (Photo 28A), and continues through the conservation reserve providing nature experiences south to Singleton Beach. C2 Midway along the path is minor activity node that provides Crystaluna Drive N2 access to Golden Bay Dog Beach. While only providing basic parking and shower facilities at the node, adjacent to it is a C2 popular café (Photo 28B). A further beach access node with two parking areas is provided to the south of the dog beach.
Singleton Beach is similar in character to Golden Bay, with N1 changing, play and picnic facilities provided. An additional C2 notable feature is the James Henson Memorial Lookout that lies just to the north of the node. Singleton Beach N2 Singleton Beach Road A dune path connector then runs to the end of the study area, Photo 28A: Shared use path between Golden Bay and Singleton broken only by a small beach access node for Singleton Dog Beach. C2 Beach, running from Bight Reefs Road south to the border with the City of Mandurah.
