The Wawanesa Lions Club was pleased to host the District Governor for a visit on April 12. The weather co-operated for the club to have a steak BBQ and potluck at the clubhouse. The wee room was very crowded and it was a great occasion. The Lions were pleased to welcome Sea Cadet Camron Boll- man to tell about his Spring Break trip to Esquimalt. He used this opportunity to thank the Lions Club for their support. A presentation of a Hope Medal was made to Mrs. Angela Kaaastra for her support of the Lions in the school and the com- munity. Mrs. K. has embraced the Lions International Reading Action Program and welcomed Lions readers into the school for the past 6 years. Lion Don Martin was presented with a Decibel Award for his work with the Hearing Foundation and the Roar for Hearing. Lion Margaret Martin received a 20 year badge. The club Presentation of Lions Hope Medal to Angela Kaastra by District Governor received their third Centennial Service Badge. Helmut Neufeld Wawanesa Lions Club wins Centennial Public Relations Contest

The MD5M Multiple is the only Multi- ple in Lions Clubs International to host this contest. Each of the 12 Districts in MD5M had the opportunity to participate in this contest for the last 2 years (2017 and 2018). Each District held their own Contest for their Lions Presentation of Decibel Award to Lion Presentation of Centennial Service Badge Clubs using the application form published in Don Martin to Lion President Mike Fisher their District Newsletters and on their District Websites. A winner was chosen and submitted to the Multiple Public Relations Chair for compet- ing for $500.00 for their administrative funds. Every District received a plaque at the Multiple Conventions (Bemidji and Winnipeg). The Christmas greeting wincluded with all club members faces (so the community could recognize our Lions) and the centennial logo. The rebirth of Lions Quest has been incredible to watch. Every day someone new embraces Lions Quest. With this money raised the Fire Department will be able to buy new equipment to assist them with responding to calls for service.

Contest will be held at the 5M13 Mid-Winter Convention at Elkhorn Resort & Spa on November 17, 2018. Depending on the number of entries in each category, elimination competitions may need to be held to determine entries for the final Speak-Off.
