The publication of “ In Memoriam ” is designed to preserve, in a more permanent form than can otherwise be accomplished, some account of those citizens and others whose deaths have occurred in or near the city during the year ; also, of Aberdonians who have died elsewhere. Such a record, we believe, may be of interest not only to residents and Aberdonians in all parts of the globe, but also to those who have at one time been connected with the city. The Obituary is a compilation from the obituaries of the following newspapers, viz. :—Aberdeen Journal, Daily Free Press, Northern Daily News, Northern Evening News, and People's Journal; to these papers we are also indebted for the biographical sketches. In abbreviating the biographical notices we have endeavoured to retain what will be of most general interest. WILLIAM CAY & SONS. Aberdeen, January, 1893.
