ENVIRONMENT We know how important it is to look after our planet for our future generations, which is why we love being members of the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture Scheme. In the production of our Tide Collection magazines 16m2 of native woodland is created every month.

The Carbon Capture Scheme helps us mitigate our carbon emissions by planting trees right here in the UK. We’ve helped fund the planting of 250,000 already! Each tree planted will grow into a vital carbon store, helping us reduce our environmental impact.

The UK is of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Working with Woodland trust helps us to protect the precious wildlife habitat that remains and plant the trees needed to create new homes for creatures big and small.

ALDE VALLEY ACADEMY The students, staff and parents at Alde Valley Academy took up the challenge of the school’s summer athletics programme ‘Lockdown Athletics’. The whole school community got off the couch and trained for the 5k or 10k using the app set up by the NHS. Alde Valley Academy wanted to raise money for the NHS to support their endless work during the Covid 19 crisis. Thursday 15th October was the staff and students’ final challenge to complete the 5K at school.

Mr Mayhew, Headteacher, commented, “The Couch to 5K challenge has been a fantastic initiative at Alde Valley Academy for a number of reasons. It has provided staff, students and parents with the motivation required to look after their physical and mental health, maintaining a fantastic community feeling of support and encouragement and has given us a platform to raise money for the NHS. The challenge has created a great energy in the school. It reflects the feel-good effect of exercise on the body and shows it is as equally as important for the mind. Students and staff enjoyed the camaraderie of the recreational element of the Couch to 5k (I even participated myself!).”

“Well done to all of our Lockdown Athletes we have raised so far £600.00.”

Quotes from our students: “Me and mum ran together and this brought us closer together over lockdown. I feel exhausted but really proud of myself. Mum said I needed just to keep going. She will be pleased that I stuck at it.”

“I didn’t think I could do it, but my friends said I would make it and I did.”

“I know Saxmundham really well now as I have run all around the town.”

“It was a great motivator through lockdown. I feel I’ve Mrs Mayhew, Head of Faculty, commented, “I have really achieved a lot.” been inspired by the staff and students who have taken up this challenge over such a long period of time. Their resilience and enthusiasm have been incredible. Thanks to all of them for showing their support for each other and for our NHS. It’s been an amazing journey for us all.”
