RETURN Checklist by Grade:

3RD, 4TH 5TH &6TH Grade Players: Shoulder Pads Only

7TH & 8TH Grade Players: Shoulder Pads, , Pants with Pads, Game and Practice ’s

Shoulder Pads –ALL GRADES: Take sweaty shoulder pads out of the gear bag, once you get home from a practice or a game. Set the shoulder pads on the floor to let them dry. Drying football pads is important to reduce the growth of bacteria and mold.

BEFORE YOU FIRST USE &/or AT SEASONS END: Clean your shoulder pads with mild detergent on a damp cloth. Wipe the area with a clean damp cloth to remove the detergent and a dry clean cloth to dry them. Use a damp cloth to wipe down plastic pieces.

Use a disinfectant on the rest of the pads. The last step in learning how to clean football shoulder pads is spraying everything down with an anti-odor disinfectant spray. This will not only improve the smell of your shoulder pads, but kill bacteria that could cause discomfort. You might want to scrub the disinfectant into the pads with a cloth to make sure all of the bacteria is killed.

Please Remove all tape used to hold clips together and replace any worn .

PANTS – 7TH & 8TH GRADES Tie the string on your pants, so it doesn't disappear in the holes in the wash.

Keep whites and colors apart.

DO NOT DRY CLEAN OR PRESS garments. This will discolor the fabric.

Do not allow perspiration soaked or muddy garments to lie in a pile or rest on top of each other for any period of time. Launder them immediately if they really, really need it. However, it is not necessary to launder after every wearing. Simply hang them on a plastic or wooden hanger until the next day of practice.

DO NOT OVER-WASH pants.

DO NOT remove the belt or pads. FASTEN HOOK & LOOP belts before washing so they don't bounce around in the washer.

DO NOT use chlorine bleach. DO NOT use fabric softeners. DO NOT soak the pants. Softeners deteriorate garments with spandex. They also restrict the effectiveness of Dri-Fit technology and act as a magnet to dirt.

Use MILD powdered detergent. Detergents with pH under 10 are recommended for athletic uniforms. Powdered detergents are recommended for athletic colors.

REMOVE garments from the machine immediately after washing. This will help avoid color bleeding, particularly on color blocked garments.

AT THE END OF THE SEASON,

Please remove the belt and pads from the pants. If the football pants have non-removable, built-in pads sewn into the pants, leave the pads inside the pants and launder and dry them as one piece.

Launder the pants pads, along with the belt, pants and jersey in a washing machine set on cold water, using regular bleach-free laundry detergent. Pre-treat any stains with a stain remover before you add the clothing to the wash.

Lay the pants pads flat on a towel to air-dry, or dry pants with non-removable pads on a clothesline or over the back of a chair. Alternatively, you can dry pads and pants in a clothes dryer set on low-heat, along with the belt, pants and jersey.

GAME & PRACTICE JERSEY CARE INSTRUCTIONS – 7th& 8th GRADES Each player will receive a game jersey. These jerseys are expensive and are easily damaged if not washed properly. Please use the following directions when washing these jerseys.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER GAMES, WASH YOUR GAME JERSEY - DO NOT LET THEM SIT DIRTY…..the perspiration on them greatly increases the risk of dye/color migration & lessens the life of the jersey.

WASH jerseys INSIDE OUT with a Mild Detergent using in COLD WATER on GENTLE CYCLE and then HANG DRY (wooden or plastic hanger). DO NOT BLEACH!

DO NOT DRY CLEAN, DO NOT IRON OR PRESS GARMENTS! Screen-printing will melt and the rib trims will lose their stretch.

If your Jersey has any tears, please make-sure this is indicated so that they may be repaired. Some wear and tear is expected during the season, and we need to know what has to be repaired/replaced before next year.

Unfortunately, game Jerseys are NOT available for purchase as they are a custom order color, so please ensure it is turned-in, regardless of condition.

HELMETS 7th & 8th GRADES: Always inspect your helmet - paying particular attention to the fasteners that attach the facemask and chin strap. If the helmet appears damaged in any way - IMMEDIATELY show your Coach or one of the Lakeville Youth Football Equipment Managers. NEVER play or participate in contact drills with a damaged helmet.

Wipe out the inside of your helmet with a damp cloth, disinfectant wipes and or mild detergent. Remove the detergent with a clean damp cloth, and then rub the area with a dry cloth to dry.

Try keeping your helmet clean and free of debris. You can do this by simply wiping with a damp cloth. NEVER use abrasive cleaners or solvents to clean helmet. The Lakeville Youth Football Equipment Managers have special helmet cleaning solutions if a damp cloth will not work.

AT SEASONS END: Players need to remove mouth guards and launder chin straps or wipe down with disinfectant wipes.

Do not remove North or South Logos
