HCC Language Codes (for Use With CCRS, HCRS and HCRS-CA), 2016–2017

This CIHI standard language code pick-list is a subset of the current ISO 639-3 standard. It includes 167 unique language codes that are relevant to Canada. Also included in this list are 2 codes — oth (other) and unk (unknown) — that are not in the ISO standard but are a CIHI standard.

Any language codes collected for 2016–2017 should match the codes on the pick-list. If a submitted code does not match 1 of the 167 codes on the pick-list, it will not be accepted into the CCRS, HCRS and HCRS-CA databases; the record submitted will be rejected.
