ARI 2 vs. NYI 1 (SO) The Coyotes connected on two shootout attempts to top the Islanders 2-1 at Gila River Arena on Saturday night. Alan Quine scored the lone goal for New York, while Thomas Greiss made 26 saves in the SO loss. Greiss has earned a point in each of his last five starts.

COL 2 vs. NYI 1 (OT) Nathan McKinnon scored the OT winner to boost the Avalanche over the Islanders 2-1 in Colorado on Friday night. Johnny Boychuk netted the lone regulation goal for New York, while Thomas Greiss made 36 saves in the loss.

The Islanders removed the “interim” label from Capuano’s title on April 12, 2011.

Entering 2016-17, Capuano ranks second in franchise history with 210 coaching wins (Al Arbour - 740) and 441 games coached (Arbour - 1,500). He was selected as an Assistant Coach for Team USA at the 2016 .

Last season, Capuano led the Islanders to their second-consecutive 100-point campaign, as the Islanders reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third time under the Head Coach.

Capuano first joined the Islanders in 2005-06 as an Assistant Coach. The native of Cranston, RI, was named Head Coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the on April 30, 2007, where he finished with a 133-100-8-14 record in four seasons.

Capuano began his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant with the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks of the ECHL.

The native of Lynn, Mass., served as an assistant coach with the Carolina Hurricanes (2008-11) helping lead the team to the Eastern Conference Finals in his first season. He won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes organization in 2006.

Prior to joining Florida, Rowe, 60, served as head coach of Yaroslavl Lokomotiv of the Kontinental Hockey League (2012-13) and the Albany River Rats/Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL, 2004-08).

Rowe was drafted in the third round (37th overall) of the 1976 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. In 357 career NHL games with Washington, the Hartford Whalers and Detroit Red Wings, he posted 85 goals and 100 assists, and became the first American-born player to score 30 goals in a season when he scored 31 for Washington (1978-79).
