You may recall that Rabin won the Nobel Prize in 1994 for signing the Oslo accords with Yasser Arafat and Shimon Peres. He is still widely remembered as the “soldier of peace” who would have brought an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. if only he hadn’t been killed by a right-wing nut-job named Yigal Amir in an attempt to derail the peace process. The assassination took place at night, just after Rabin had addressed a huge peace rally held to support the Oslo accords in the face of virulent right-wing opposition. After the rally, as Rabin made his way down the steps from the speakers’ platform, Amir approached and shot him from behind. He was brought to a nearby hospital and died on the operating table, despite the doctors’ best efforts. All of this is well known, documented on videotape and firmly established by the Shamgar Commission, which investigated the assassination. It was named after its chairman, Israeli Supreme Court justice Meir Shamgar. Sort of like the Warren commission, except here they mock us by openly advertising that it was a sham. Would it surprise you to learn that there are at least half a dozen conspiracy theories swirling around Rabin’s assassination? It surprised me. When I first heard of them, I didn’t know how to make sense of all the anomalies, contradictions, and impossibilities that these theories lay bare, let alone sift through the plausibility of different claims about who was behind it all.

There is nothing wrong with exposing real anti-Semitism directed toward Jewish and Arabic people. Sometimes, the ADL do indeed expose real anti-Semites (like the neo-Nazis, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason Henry Ford, Charles Coughlin, etc.). On the other hand, real researches make manifest of the ADL not only being an arm of the elite (many of these elitists advocate one world government), but some have accused the ADL of once having mafia and pornography ties . The ADL is a network of people that stalks some people under the guise of “anti-Semitism” to elevate their own agenda . Many members of the ADL sincerely fight against bigotry, but their leadership have been corrupted with compromise. Their agenda is extreme political correctness and the promotion of a far left agenda. Out of the many exposes on them, one was created by William Cooper. William Cooper (who died in a murder at October 2001) created his The Hour of the Time tape series on the ADL, which is the most truthful and fairest around to lay the reality on the Anti-Defamation League. Emphasis this Summer is on Sketch Comedy Writing, and how Sketch differs from other types of comedy (Stand Up, Sitcoms, Comedic Feature Films, & Improv vs. Written Skits.) Telling jokes is how we critique and understand the world, ourselves, and other people. Having a funny idea, and wanting to share it, is a deeply human impulse. Your job, as screenwriters, is to learn to write your sketches in the funniest, most effective way possible for an audience. You want to move people to laughter so they can understand something new and unique about life. The main activity of this class is writing——you’ll write at least TEN short comedy sketches, ½ - 4 pages in length each. (“Brevity is the soul of wit” – W. Shakespeare.) We will be primarily concerned with STRUCTURE, CHARACTER, and HUMOR, as key components in sketch writing. We will analyze television sketch shows and your own scripts in terms of their structure, characters, and comedic effectiveness. Becoming a better writer is a journey, and we all learn by attempting things and growing beyond our limitations. We learn by WRITING, first and foremost. I will expect you to write MORE sketches than those you decide to present in class, and I expect you to revise your writing both before and after you present in class.
