RYERSON WON WON Located in Guelph, Ont., the University of Guelph was established 2-0 2-0 in 1964 and is considered one of Canada’s top universities. Its three founding members – Macdonald Institute, the Agricultural (8) (8) College and the Ontario Veterinary College – are older than the Uni- versity itself. Shawn, an Ottawa native, brings with him to the Gryphons an abundance of coaching experience at the CHL level as well as within Hockey Mark Raycroft Canada. Defence Shawn is the only coach to ever bring both an OHL as well as an 6’2 OUA championship to the same city. In 2004, Shawn served as Woodstock, ON head coach of the OHL Champion Guelph Storm. 10 years later, Shawn brought an OUA title to Guelph as head coach of the Yr 5 Gryphons’ 2014-15 Queen’s Cup champion team. During his time Biological Science with Hockey Canada, Shawn has experience both as an assistant coach and a head coach of the U-18 team, including leading Canada to a Gold medal at the 2005 World Jr. Cup. No surprise, he was the University of Guelph’s Male Athlete of 1971-72 Ken Lockett the Year in 1994-95. 1973-74 Adam Brown 1978-79 Mike McParland J.P. DAVIS 1996-97, 1997-98 1982-83 Ray Irwin J.P. Davis was named the OUAA East Division Most Gentlemanly Player, OUAA First Team All-Star and CIAU All-Canadian for the 1992-93 Steve Perkovic 1996-97 season. In 25 league games, J.P. scored 7 times and assisted on 25 goals for 32 points. In addition to winning the Ontario 1994-95 Todd Wetzel and Canadian University Hockey Championships, J.P. was named to Team Canada’s inaugural university hockey team that played 1996-97 Matt Mullin the NCAA All-Stars. His goal with 0.9 seconds remaining forced the game into overtime and Canada prevailed. In 1998, J.P. scored 1997-98 J.P. Davis 3 goals and added 23 assists for 26 points in 23 games. He was named an OUA First Team All-Star, OUA Most Valuable Player, and won the Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy as the CIAU’s Outstanding Player. This year, J.P. captained the 1998 Canadian Scott Yanchus Memorial Award University Team that played the NCAA All-Stars. He was named Guelph’s 1997-98 Male Athlete of the Year. (Male Rookie of the Year) 1987-88 Mike Gillies MATT MULLIN 1996-97 1990-91 Dan Haylow Matt Mullin net minded the Gryphons to their first ever CIAU crown in 1996-97. He won every accolade possible including First 1992-93 George Dourian Team OUAA All-Star, OUAA MVP, OUAA Championship MVP, First Team All-Canadian, the CIAU Player of the Year as well as the 1993-94 Todd Wetzel 1998-99 Jason Jackman
