PITTSBURGH, Nov. 10, 2014 – Join the Senator John and for FREE admission days , sponsored by the Jack Buncher Foundation , on Nov. 14, 15, and 16.

All visitors will receive free admission throughout the day at both museums, including adults, children, and seniors.

At the History Center, visitors will enjoy all six floors of the Smithsonian-affiliated museum, including its newest exhibitions, ’s Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia on the first floor and Heinz on the fourth floor, as well as the Western Sports Museum on the second and third floors.

At the Fort Pitt Museum, visitors can explore the 12,000-square-foot museum, which focuses on the critical role that played during the French & Indian War, the , and the founding of Pittsburgh.

The History Center gratefully acknowledges the Jack Buncher Foundation for their generous support of the free admission days on Nov. 14-16.

History Center’s Celebrates National Pickle Day with Special Event

In honor of National Pickle Day (Nov. 14), join the History Center on Saturday, Nov. 15 for a perfectly pickled party.

Visitors can view 160-year old, perfectly-preserved pickles – still green in their original glass jar – inside the Pittsburgh’s Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia exhibition as well as a variety of historic pickle displays, including one of the world’s oldest known Heinz pickle pins from the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, inside the new Heinz exhibition.

Highlights of the National Pickle Day Party include: • Tastings from the Pittsburgh Pickle Company • A pickle scavenger hunt throughout the History Center with fun prizes • An appearance by an H.J. Heinz re-enactor (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) • Docent-led tours of the Heinz exhibit at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., along with tours of the Treasures of the Arabia exhibit at noon and 2 p.m.

All visitors on Saturday, Nov. 15, will receive a FREE iconic Heinz pickle pin at the History Center’s admission desk.

Museum admission, as well as all tours and activities, are free throughout the day, courtesy of the Jack Buncher Foundation.

The History Center’s new Heinz exhibition highlights the 145-year history of the company, including its evolution from a small food purveyor into one of the most recognizable international brands. The exhibit features this larger-than-life, 11-foot ketchup bottle comprised of more than 400 individual bottles alongside a display of more than 100 historic bottles that shows the evolution of Heinz products and packaging
