2006-07 (Freshman): Britt played in nine games for the Aggies as a freshman. Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime He made his first appearance in an NMSU uniform in the inaugural Lou Henson Chicago State 1-2 Prairie View A&M 0-2 Classic versus San Francisco (Dec. 2). Britt scored three points and grabbed a rebound in the win over New Mexico (Dec. 5). In his first WAC showing, Britt had two points and two rebounds against Idaho (Jan. 24). 2006-07 (Redshirt Junior): After redshirting his first year in Las Cruces, Hawkins Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime quickly became one of NMSU’s best performers. Hawkins was named first team at Ohio 0-2 All-WAC, to the All-WAC Newcomer Team and the Most Valuable Player of the New Mexico 4-4 2007 WAC Championships while leading the Aggies back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. He also earned several national accolades as the United States Basketball Writers of America (USBWA) named him All-District VIII and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) selected him second team All-District 15. His all-district accolades were the first for an Aggie since James Moore in 2003. In his first year with the team, Hawkins led the Aggies in scoring and rebounding. His 15.6 points per game ranked sixth in the WAC while his 6.6 rebounds per contest ranked ninth in the conference.

High School: Luster, a Hoover High School graduate, is San Diego’s all-time Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime leader in career assists and career steals with 857 and 559, respectively. Luster’s vs. LeMoyne-Owen 0-1 UTEP 2-2 559 career steals also rank him third all-time nationally and second in the state of California. Luster, who entered his senior season looking to join NBA superstar Jason Kidd as the only two high school players in history to have 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 500 steals in a high school career, played just 11 games for Hoover before a car accident sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Luster ended his career with 1,890.

High School: Young was rated as the No. 26 best prep recruit by hoopscooponline. com. As a youngster, Young played for various AAU programs, including the DC Assault and Cecil Kirk. In 2004, Young averaged 18.3 points per game shot and 47.5 percent from the field in a four-game tournament for Cecil Kirk. Young, who shot 50 percent from 3-point range and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line, also averaged 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds during the tournament. Against Nike Team Florida in 2004 (July 21), Young went 11-for-23 from the field and 5-for-7 from three-point land to lead his team with 34 points.

High School: Jones, who played his senior season at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, Wash., helped the Vikings to a 20-9 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the southern division of the Metro League. Jones averaged a team-best 16.2 points per game last season while scoring 20 or more points 11 times. Jones was sidelined the majority of his junior season with a foot injury. As a sophomore at Kennedy High School, Jones averaged 27 points per game and was rated as one of the top sophomores in the state of Washington.

2006-07 (Sophomore): Carter was a second team NJCAA Division II All-American Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime last season at Cecil Community College in Maryland. Carter, who played in New Mexico 2-2 all 36 games, helped the Seahawks to a 33-3 overall record, tying for the most wins in school history, and a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Behind Carter’s 15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, Cecil claimed its third straight Maryland JUCO Conference regular season title and fourth straight Maryland JUCO Conference Tournament crown while finishing ranked No. 1 in the final NJCAA Division II national poll.

2006-07 (Redshirt Junior): In his first season with the Aggies, Peete was one Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime of the most reliable performers on both sides of the ball as he was named to the North Texas 2-2 UTEP 2-2 All-WAC Newcomer and All-WAC Defensive Teams. Peete ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game and led the team in assists, 79, and steals, 44, while starting 29 straight games before a foot injury sidelined him for a week. His 29 games started last season were a part of 56 straight starts to begin his Division I career. His 1.45 steals per game ranked third among all players in the WAC while he led all Aggie guards with four rebounds per game.

High School: Pope was named a fourth team Parade All-American and averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds as a senior while leading Aliquippa High School to the Class AA PIAA State Championship game. Scout.com ranked Pope as the No. 17 high school senior and sixth-best power forward. Rivals.com rated him as the No. 23 player in the 2007 class and the sixth-best at his position. He chose New Mexico State over basketball powerhouses, Texas, Maryland, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Oklahoma and is, without a doubt, the highest profile student-athlete to ever sign with Aggie hoops. Pope was also recruited by the likes of Louisville, Kansas State and Cincinnati. As a junior, Pope was named the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Boys Basketball Player of the Year and to the Trib’s Terrific Ten after averaging 18.3 points and 15 rebounds for Aliquippa High.

High School: McKines led Richmond High School to a 22-9 finish and a North Coast Section Division II Championship in 2007. McKines averaged 35.0 points 15.0 rebounds and 3.4 blocks as a senior for the Oilers. He is No. 6 on the all- time scoring list in California with 3,034 career points. McKines was named the San Francisco Chronicle Metro Area and Contra Costa Times Boys Player of the Year. He was also a first team all-state selection and Alameda/Contra Costa Athletic League Co-Most Valuable Player. 2006-07 (Junior): After sitting out the first three games of the season due to a Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime knee injury, Passos burst onto the scene as he started the next 31 games for the vs. West Virginia 0-1 Aggies. In his first season at NMSU, Passos set the school’s single-season field goal percentage mark at .631. Tracey Ware set the previous mark of .625 during the 1992-93 season. Passos ended the year ranked fifth on the team in scoring at 8.7 points per game and third in rebounding. His 6.1 rebounds per game also ranked 13th in the WAC. Passos was second on the team with 16 blocked shots and had 20 steals and 21 assists as a junior.

2006-07 (Summer): Iti represented Australia in the 2007 World University Games Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime in Bangkok, Thailand in August. The team went 4-3 and recorded a 17th-place vs. West Virginia 0-2 at UTEP 1-2 finish. The Australians finished strong with three consecutive wins. In the victory over Kazakhstan, Iti had four points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks.

2006-07 (Redshirt Junior): In his first season at NMSU, Iti was a dominant defensive force inside for the Crimson and White as he led the team with 40 blocked shots. His 1.25 blocked shots per game ranked seventh among all WAC big men.

High School: Castillo, a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, is the only student- athlete to ever win the award twice in New Mexico boy’s basketball. Castillo averaged 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists as a senior. As a junior, Castillo averaged 26.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while leading the Bulldawgs to the Class 5A boy’s state basketball tournament. Castillo scored 30 or more points nine times last season while pouring in a career-best 51 against Albuquerque High School.

2006-07 (Summer): Steward represented NMSU at the 2007 NCAA Leadership Free Throws in Final Two Minutes and Overtime Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The conference was an outreach of the at Duke 1-2 Chicago State 4-4 successful CHAMPS/Life Skills Program and involves nearly 325 student-athletes Prairie View A&M 1-2 each year who compete in fall, winter and spring sports in Divisions I, II and III.

2006-07 (Redshirt Junior): In his first season as an Aggie, Steward proved to be a team leader, both on and off the court. In 21 games, Steward averaged 1.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per game while shooting 51.6 percent from the field.
