Seton Panels
God Is My Father In the year 1789 when my Father was in England I jumped in the wagon that was driving to the woods for brush about a mile from Home... [I] soon found an outlet in a Meadow, and a chestnut tree…here then was a sweet bed—the clovers and wild flowers I had got by the way, and a heart as innocentas a human heart could be was filled with even enthusiastic love to God and admiration of his works… I thought at the time that my Father did not care for me—well God was my Father—my All. I prayed—sung hymns—cryed—laughed in talking to myself of how far He could place me above all Sorrow… I am sure in the two hours so enjoyed [I] grew ten years in my spiritual life (CW 1:264). Despite such moments, Elizabeth’s deeply loving nature continued to suffer from the rejection of her stepmother, the abandonment of her father, and the tension in their marriage. The turmoil of these years built into a growing dissatisfaction with life, and a deepening long- ing for eternity: Folly—sorrows—romance—miserable friendships—but Portrait of Elizabeth Seton in 1796 at age 22 all turned to good and thoughts of how silly to love any thing in this world (CW 3a: 512). At 4 years of age sitting alone on a step of the door Elizabeth’s bleak view of human relationships grew into an anxiety looking at the clouds while my little sister Catherine about her future as she approached adulthood. -

They are the cresting foam in the ocean, stretching eternally across a sea of wilderness. I have often dreamed of being lost in their wake. I long to be lost as a single grain of sand in the sea, unnoticed and untouched by the world; oblivious to its pain. I have no desire to be known, only to blend; that is what I want from life. I am much like the desert. Nowhere else does the sun shine quite as brightly and with so much blistering heat. My life is illuminated by the flickers of light that bum in every person's eyes; eyes that stare and gaze upon me- one grain of desert sand. Like the desert, my life is filled with unbearably cold and frozen dreams when the sun sinks back to its home beyond the mountains. -

Complete Song Lyrics (By Seán Silke)
INTRODUCTION TO THE LYRICS OF 400+ ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS BY SEAN SILKE Seán Silke is a prolific composer and musician with over 500 original songs in his back catalogue. He composes songs (music and lyrics) in a variety of styles (dance, pop, love songs, country, crossover). Seán is launching two albums in 2019 - “Unexamined Emotions” (14 pop songs dealing with affairs of the heart, sung by Ellen Cosgrove); and “Unlucky in love” (15 dance songs featuring a variety of female artists and produced by Chris Kabs, a well-known solo artist/producer on the Dublin dance scene). In 2018, Seán released “In the heart of the castle” (14 country-flavoured pop songs performed by Weekend Special); and a well-received single by country artist C.C. Cooper, called "He wants me back". “In the heart of the castle” was a standout country pop album of 2018, featuring 14 original compositions by Seán Silke. The band Weekend Special consists of Darien Chase (vocals), Rohan Healy (guitars, additional instrumentation), Al Quiff (upright and electric bass), David Virgin (vocals, guitar) and Seán Silke (pianos, strings). The concept of a “house of dreams” runs through many of the songs. Tracks like “In the heart of the castle” and “Heading on home to you” reflect the emotions of home when home is a safe and happy place to be. “In another life, in another world” talks of those dreams of the heart which are not necessarily shared. “If you're looking for love” speaks of departed dreams. And “Worthy to be loved” describes what it is like when dreams are spectacularly and unexpectedly fulfilled. -
