Through a special collaborative affiliation between AtlantiCare and the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont for Children, the Division of at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) provides immediate critical care for newborns (primarily less than 30 days of age) with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. Ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, the duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware is a leader in children’s health and together, we are committed to helping children grow up healthy and reach their full potential. Neonatologists work with critical care pediatric specialist and clinical staff to provide expert care for sick newborns requiring or more intensive specialized treatment for conditions including:

§§ Apnea §§ Neonatal abstinence §§ Prematurity §§ Hyperbilirubinemia (Jaundice) syndrome (NAS) §§ Respiratory Distress §§ Hypoglycemia §§ Persistent fetal circulation §§ §§ Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) (pulmonary hypertension)

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit’s (NICU) excellent care places the patient and family at the center, with a commitment to communication being integral to the process. The division uses the most up-to-date and innovative techniques available and strives to create a uniquely satisfying experience—bringing peace of mind to the family. Located in the Center for Childbirth at ARMC’s Mainland Campus, the unit is a level II referral center and contains 22 patient bays. The NICU is designed to provide an atmosphere that supports the philosophy of family-centered care, limits stress to the while meeting basic needs of warmth, nutrition and protection to assure proper growth and development.

The NICU team is comprised of neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatal nurses, hospitalists, fellows, and neonatologists. Ancillary, or additional, services are readily available from respiratory , , occupational therapy, , , laboratory services, social work, speech and hearing, EEG, EKG, and ECHO cardiography. A neonatal transport team provides prompt transfer to the NICU. The center also receives support from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Jennifer Tioseco, MD is Chief of Neonatology at Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare. She completed her pediatric at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey and in neonatology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is board certified in and neonatal-perinatal . Dr. Tioseco has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2006.

Taral Mehta, MD is Director of Newborn Services at Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare. Dr. Mehta completed his pediatric residency at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, NJ and his fellowship in neonatology at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. He is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine and has served as a neonatologist for more than 20 years. Dr. Mehta has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2007.

He completed his pediatric residency at Columbia University Harlem Hospital Center in New York, NY and his fellowship in neonatology at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. Dr. Asiegbu has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2007.

Rommel Celestial, MD is a neonatologist and a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center/Worcester Memorial Hospital. He has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 1994.

Catherine Muhumuza, MD, FAAP is a neonatologist and a graduate of Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Lincoln Medical Center in Bronx, NY and her fellowship in neonatology at the University of Maryland Medical System, Baltimore, MD. Dr. Muhumuza has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2008.

Cynthia Villasis, MD is a neonatologist. She completed her pediatric residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, PA and her fellowship in neonatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Villasis has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2003.

Caroline Edwards, RN, MSN is a neonatal (NNP) and obtained her masters in nursing degree from Thomas Jefferson University in 2004. She received her clinical training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Columbia- Presbyterian’s Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, and Virtua Voorhees NICUs. She is a board-certified NNP through the National Certification Corporation. Edwards has recently joined the Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare neonatology group. She started her career at AtlantiCare more than 27 years ago where she worked as a NICU staff nurse from 1977 until 2004.

Dianna H. Lease, RN, MSN is a neonatal nurse practitioner and received her master’s in nursing as well as a post master’s certificate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She is nationally certified as a neonatal nurse practitioner. Lease has been with Nemours Pediatric Partners at AtlantiCare since 2001.
