HILL, Reginald Geboren: West Hartlepool, County Durham, Engeland, 3 April 1936 HILL, Reginald Geboren: West Hartlepool, County Durham, Engeland, 3 april 1936. Overleden: 12 januari 2012. Pseudoniemen: Dick Morland; Patrick Ruell; Charles Underhill Opleiding: gymnasium, Carlisle, Cumberland, 1947-1955; St. Catherine's College, Oxford, 1957-1960, B.A. (honours) in engels, 1960. Carrière: studenten aanvoerder, British Council, Edinburgh, 1960-1961; schooolmaster, Essex, 1962-1967; lector, Doncaster College of Education, Yorkshire, 1967-81; full-time schrijver sedert 1981. Militaire dienst: Border Regiment, British Army, 1955-1957. Onderscheidingen: Crime Writers Association Diamond Dagger award, 1995. Familie: getrouwd met Patricia Ruell, 1960. Woont in Broad Oak, Ravenglass, Cumbria, Engeland (foto: Droemer Knaur/krimicouch) Detectives: Superintendent Andrew ("Andy") Dalziel & inspector (later Chief Inspector) Peter Pascoe , Mid-Yorkshire, Engeland. His writing career began with the publication of A Clubbable Woman (1970), which introduced Chief Superintendent Andy Dalziel and DS Peter Pascoe. Their subsequent appearances have confirmed Hill’s position as ‘the best living male crime writer in the English-speaking world’ (Independent) and won numerous awards, including the Crime Writers’ Association Cartier Diamond Dagger for his lifetime contribution to the genre. The Dalziel and Pascoe novels have now been adapted into a hugely successful BBC television series, star- ring Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan. Visit www.AuthorTracker.co.uk for exclusive information on Reginald Hill i 902L_tx 14/6/07 08:31 Page ii Acclaim for The Death of Dalziel ‘Hill at his best is a masterly storyteller, and he is at his best here. His strength lies not only in a lively, even extravagant imagination, but in his ability to modulate pace, to move from rapid action to domestic scenes . he always handles the big action scenes with authority and perfect timing but one reason for the addictive quality of his novels is that he is every bit as interested in his characters’ off-duty lives . brilliant’ Spectator ‘Hill has kept the series fresh – with innovations that take the reader to surprising areas . the series’ longevity owes much to Hill’s readiness to engage with important social issues and that readi- ness is apparent in the elements that set the violence in The Death of Dalziel in motion .

I will want to read Pascoe and Dalziel again. Surely Wield would not murder to preserve his private life - but he has connections to a murder victim, and so has to explain the position and so "come out". I guess if you didn't know the characters you might suspect that Andy Dalziel was a corrupt cop. Continues… Excerpted from "A Pinch of Snuff" by. There was no difficulty, and it was as 21A Upper Maltgate that the premises were licensed to be used as a cinema club while the vigilantes of the Square slept and never felt their security being undone. The film club where the films was shown is broken into and vandalised, including burning the film, and the owner is beaten up. Her estate was first to be retained for the missing son, but paid to the charities if he didn't turn up by his 90th birthday. This makes the first appearance for both of them together and Hill uses them to bring the feeling of electricity of opposite and complementary skills which takes them both to the top most division.
