STAKES-WINNING FILLY MAKES RECORD SUM Galileo filly Elizabeth Browning made 700,000gns, a record at Tattersalls’ annual Horses-in-Training Sale, when knocked down to bloodstock agent Alex Elliott in Newmarket yesterday. A Gr.2-winner by one of the world’s greatest sires, and with the profile boost of being a full-sister to Gr.1 winner Johannes Vermeer, she was offered to dissolve a partnership between and China Horse Club. Elliott said the three-year-old’s racing career was at an end and she would be heading to stud for an unnamed European client. He added: “She’s a Gr.2 winner at three, a full sister to a Gr.1 winner Elizabeth Browning (Lot 247), who sold for a record- at two and she’s by Galileo – what’s not to like? She’s done her job breaking 700,000gns yesterday at Tattersalls. © Laura Green and fillies like her are so hard to find.

apanese racing is known the world over as having excellent prize money. Racing is competitive, but there is one trainer Jwho is making a breakthrough at a rapid rate. With strong European connections, Mitsumasa Nakauchida [pictured right] is a name to remember, with owners on the books including the likes of Sheikh Mohammed (two-year-olds in training include those by Dubawi, Shamardal and Teofilo), Sheikh Fahad Al Thani and the Yoshidas.
