Corry Lee, Camping World of Lake City’s general manager, got in touch with the Texas- based company that repairs its flags. But the LCFD flag could not be repaired, so Camping World gave them a new one. Lee said it was import- ant to recognize what first responders do — put their lives on the line on a daily basis. “It’s very moving and touching to see that at a funeral,” Lee said. “You hate to have to bring the flag out, but it definitely helps, I would think, give closure to families when they see that. It’s very moving.” LCFD was grateful. “They took care of us,” Wehinger said. Chief Randy Burnham said the flag is used as a salute to veterans during memorial services and for fallen heroes. “We fly it as a symbol TONY BRITT/Lake City Reporter of honor and courage,” Chief Randy Burnham of the Lake City Fire Department (center) holds the end of a 30ft. x 60ft.
