This interactive exhibition at Plymouth State University's Museum of the White Mountains traces the origins of the summer camp movement from its start on Squam Lake to the many residential youth camps that dot the Lakes Region and White Mountains today. Images, artifacts, art, and narratives of the summer camp experience illustrate how camps gave their participants new experiences in the natural world that resulted in new lifelong skills and a new sense of self.
