Reference: No Summary: This report considers objections received to the proposed new 50mph speed limit on the B1166 Drove Road between Shepeau Stow and Holbeach Drove, as shown at Appendix B. Recommendation(s): That the Members of the Committee overrule the objections received and that the Order be confirmed as proposed. Background 1.1 A request was received from a resident of Shepeau Stow for the speed limit on the B1166 Drove Road between the villages of Shepeau Stow and Holbeach Drove to be reduced from the 60mph national speed limit. To identify if this could be justified conditions were investigated against the County Council's Speed Limit policy. Existing Conditions / Investigations 1.2 The B1166 through both Shepeau Stow and Holbeach Drove is subject to a 40mph speed limit and Drove Road connects the two villages in a generally east / west direction. There is sporadic residential development along this section with some agricultural usage and two crossroads junctions. The road is an unlit, mainly straight causeway style road with drainage ditches either side. The average daily traffic flow is approximately 4000 vehicles. The lack of frontage development means that the policy would not be met in terms of the development density requirements. The road has therefore been assessed as a rural limit where it will be the accident rate which confirms if a limit can be pursued. -

Issue 4: Jul-Sept 2018 Whaplode Drove Churchroom, Church and History PARISH NEWSLETTER Hello! Happy summertime and welcome to Issue 4! Our volunteers now deliver over 400 of these newsletters within/around the village but we are still looking to expand this further. If you are able to help distribute in the following areas, please get in touch with either of our Churchwardens: Dog Drove North - approx. 30 households / Chapel Drove - approx. 17 households. An ongoing quarterly commitment would be required. It is hoped in future that we will also be able to incorporate Holbeach Drove within our regular delivery, once volunteers can be sourced. A letter from Jane... Dear friends and neighbours, We appear to have sped from Spring to Summer in the blink of an eye! At this time, we look to Chapter 2 of the Second Book of Kings; the prophet Elijah, who while travelling with his attendant and disciple Elisha, is about to be taken by the Lord up to Heaven in a whirlwind. Both men know of Elijah’s impending passing; and while struggling to accept this fact, Elisha three times refuses his master’s request to remain behind, instead stating “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you”. Elisha’s final wish is granted, seeing him inherit double the portion of the Holy Spirit from Elijah after his ascension to Heaven. Elisha mourns the loss of his mentor like that of a son for his father and he is inspired to follow in Elijah’s footsteps as a spiritual leader.
