Good Night and Sleep Tight: Enjoy a Weekly Bedtime Story from Dolly Parton ... Starting Tonight! Here’s Some Positive News, a Virtual Roller Coaster Ride and Words of Wisdom Greetings again from the team at Mindy Bianca Public Relations! Last week we reached out to all the journalists we worked with in 2019 to check in on everyone and make sure you’re doing alright during these challenging times. We received incredible feedback from you and the encouragement to keep good and happy things coming your way, so we’ve resolved to do that on what we hope will be a weekly basis. If you’d prefer NOT to receive our messages, please just send back a quick email and I’ll remove you from our list. These messages are coming directly from me rather than a more impersonal distribution service, so it’s a pretty easy change to make. We do hope you’ll remain connected with us, though, as our goal is to share positive items from our clients, including recipes, virtual travel experiences, photos of cute baby animals and other things we think could bring a little lift to your day. Today we’re bringing you news from our client in Tennessee, Dollywood. Ordinarily at this time of year, we’d be telling you about all the fun that’s happening at the special theme park in the Smoky Mountains. Someday soon we’ll get to do that again, but we think now is a great time to talk about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Starting tonight, Dolly Parton herself will read a specially selected book at 7 p.m. EDT every Thursday night. For the next 10 weeks, “Goodnight with Dolly” will feature Dolly snuggled in bed with that week’s Imagination Library book, which she’ll read in her own signature style. You can be a part of the “Goodnight” program via any of the social channels for The Imagination Library, Dolly Parton’s personal sites, the World Choice Investments family of attractions, and The Dollywood Company. This is Dolly’s personal gift to all families around the world, and her hope is that everyone will be inspired by her message to pass on love and keep hope alive as we all work together during this trying time. For ease, here’s a link to Dollywood’s Facebook page. If you don’t know about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, you may have missed the most fascinating part of the entertainment icon’s story. You know her music, movies and television shows, and we hope through us you’ve learned more about her theme park. But the Imagination Library has introduced Dolly to a whole new generation of fans, kids who just know her as “The Book Lady.” Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library started as a gift for the children in Dolly’s hometown, Sevierville, Tennessee, and is now active in all 50 states and five countries. She created it as a tribute to her father; she says he was the smartest man she’s ever known, but she believes his inability to read prevented him from fulfilling all his dreams. Dolly wanted to give all children the gift of books and instill in them a love of reading and learning from the earliest age. Before he passed away, Dolly’s father told her that The Imagination Library was the most important thing she’d ever done. Here at MBPR, we agree. The non-profit organization has gifted more than 135 million books to children since its inception in 1995 and currently sends books to about 1.5 million children around the world every month. We encourage you to get into your PJ’s and join Dolly’s many fans across the globe as she launches “Goodnight with Dolly” at 7 p.m. EDT tonight. Oh ... for those of you who were hoping to hear about Dollywood and who are really jonesing for a roller coaster ride, we’re going to give you the next best thing: point-of-view footage from Lightning Rod, a coaster themed after a 1950s-era hot rod. It launches riders from 0 to 45 mph in just a few seconds and reaches a top speed of 73 mph, which makes it the fastest wooden roller coaster anywhere in the world. Are you strapped into your desk chair? If so, click here. Finally, we want to share this: We hope to welcome you (back) to Pigeon Forge in the near future. If you come see us there, you’ll likely stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa. All along the hallways and in the elevator banks, you’ll find posters with “Dolly-isms” on them – her words of wisdom that somehow make everything feel a little better. Today we’ll leave you with a Dolly-ism that seems especially appropriate in these times: The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Stay safe and healthy. Be well! .
