7th & 8th Grades Summer Reading Challenge Our Lady of the Angels Mr. Barrett

In addition to enjoying the great outdoors this summer, I also hope you always have a good book you are reading. People have shared stories since the dawn of humankind. Stories bring people together. They provoke laughter, tears, awe, understanding and empathy. Our minds are stretched; our hearts are enlarged. We are transformed!

You are required to read at least four books this summer. You may read any age-appropriate book. The attached lists of book titles are recommendations from your peers. These are books that boys and girls your age have enjoyed, so I encourage you to read through the list to find books that may interest you. However, you do not need to read books from these lists only. Find books that you enjoy reading! Over the years, I have had many students who have read over twenty books during the summer. Challenge yourself! See how many you can read!

You are required to keep a Reading Log. After you finish a book, write down the title and author and number of pages in the book. Keep track of all the books you read on this log, have a parent sign the bottom of the list at the end of the summer, and bring it with you on the first day of school. We will record the number of books you read on our class Reading Log and you will be asked to tell us about the book you enjoyed the most!
