 Do A Contest Now thru Thursday, May 1 To celebrate America's independence, the Atlantic City Alliance is asking "the people" to choose the official soundtrack to Atlantic City's July 4th fireworks extravaganza during the "We the People. By the People. For the People. Do AC July 4th Fireworks Spectacular Soundtrack Song Contest." All fireworks lovers are invited to pick their favorite songs for one of America's largest fireworks shows. Simply vote for the songs you love most among 37 suggested songs within five categories. Categories are "America the Beautiful," "God Bless America," "The Star Spangled Banner," Blake Shelton songs and Pop/Top 40 tunes. After the votes are tallied, the top music selected will then be used as the official soundtrack. Additionally 10 randomly selected users will be awarded a DO AC Summer Beach Package — a “Goodie Bag” filled with prizes perfect for the summer on Atlantic City’s free beach, including DO AC sunglasses, beach balls and more! Now thru Thursday, May 22 Global Spectrum, operators of Historic and the Atlantic City Convention Center, will award one lucky winner with tickets to every event at the venue for one year as part of its “Chairman of the Boardwalk” Sweepstakes. The winner will receive two tickets to every event scheduled at Boardwalk Hall beginning on Memorial Day 2014 and concluding on Memorial Day 2015. Saturday, May 10 Celebrate all things glam during Tropicana’s first ever Glamour Week, May 10-16. As part of the festivities, Diane Mitchell of the Mike & Diane Show will host a Mother-Daughter Look-alike Contest in The Quarter. The mother/daughter duo who resembles each other the most will receive a grand prize of a $500 shopping spree at The Quarter and a pair of One Direction concert tickets. The contest begins at Noon.  DO A Concert Friday, May 2 ’s most legendary party band, Don’t Call Me Francis will bring their high energy, get up and jam style music to The Social at Revel. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Don't Call Me Francis is one of the most requested bands in the Philadelphia/ tri-state area and beyond.  DO A Party Saturday, May 3 Global Spectrum, operators of Historic Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center, is inviting all country music fans to a pre-concert party on the Boardwalk before Saturday’s sold-out Jason Aldean concert at Boardwalk Hall. The free party featuring country music, a beer garden sponsored by Ducktown Tavern and food from Mad Dog Morgan’s will start at 4:00 p.m. at Kennedy Plaza, which is located directly across from Boardwalk Hall. On Sunday, Atlantic City pays tribute to the mothers of the Atlantic City Fire and Police Departments for their selfless sacrifices of their children to the public safety of the community. At 1:00 p.m. Mayor Don Guardian will issue a proclamation recognizing the mothers of both branches, designating May 4, 2014 to be in their honor. All mothers are invited to a free climb of ’s tallest lighthouse and as a reward for finishing the 228 step challenge, she can show her “I Climbed” card at Tony Boloney’s and receive a free slice of pizza.  Do An Exhibition Now thru Sunday, May 4 Celebrating American sports and sportsmanship through a selection of photographs, artifacts and memorabilia, the Smithsonian’s “Hometown Teams” exhibition explores various aspects of sports and teams, from how and why we play these games to what makes us fans and why we root for our home teams. Now thru June 29 The Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton College features “The Art of Brian Fernandes-Halloran,” a solo exhibition showcasing the works of this multimedia sculpture artist whose creativity stems from significant experiences and events. Childhood memories inspired Saffron, as it resembles his childhood dog. Other works such as Browsing, a self-portrait of the artist at his computer, are action-filled pieces constructed simply in the form of a skeleton.  DO Wine Wednesdays Wednesday, May 7, 14, 21 and 28 Ever tried a Torrontés? What about a Malbec? Be prepared to please your palate with all things wine as every Wednesday is Wine Geekery Night at Atlantic City Bottle Company (ACBC). From Cabernet to Chardonnay, Merlot, Bordeaux and more, ACBC is offering wine lovers the chance to sample some of the most unique wines and grape varietals anywhere.  Do A Festival Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 The Atlantic City Alliance along with the City of Atlantic City and Market City Solutions, LLC are pleased to present the DO AC Fire on the Water Festival, a new two-day festival to kick off summer featuring the action-packed Firefighters Combat Challenge and the 7th Annual “Guns vs. Hoses”: Firefighters vs. Police boxing tournament. The festival will have crafters, food vendors, beer gardens, live music, a kid’s Firefighter Challenge, activities and much more. “Fire on the Water” will take place at Historic Gardner’s Basin Waterfront Park from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on both days. Free parking will be available on-site adjacent to the festival grounds. Additional parking will be available on the 700 block of Atlantic Avenue between New Jersey and Delaware Avenues. Thursday, May 1 Don’t miss your chance to be part of an informal discussion session about sports, the players and memorable events, led by local players, coaches and sports figures. Presented by the Atlantic City Free Public Library, Pep Talk is a series of discussions that accompanies the Smithsonian Exhibit “Hometown Teams.” This week’s final topic is Sports Journalism and will be led by NBC 40 Sports Director Pete Thompson and Press of Atlantic City Sports Editor Mark Melhorn. Pep Talk begins at 6:00 p.m.

Friday, May 2 The Atlantic City Free Public Library presents Atlantic City Sports Artifacts: Share and Tell. Atlantic City Historical Museum Coordinator Beth Ryan will showcase and discuss various pieces of sports memorabilia related to the city. The public is welcome to bring in their own Atlantic City sports items to discuss. The program begins at 1:00 p.m.

 DO A Museum Visitors and residents can learn the history and culture of African-Americans at the Atlantic City branch of the African-American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey, located in the newly built Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton College. Featuring an extensive collection of African-Americana and works by local and regional artists, the museum is part of an emerging arts district that includes art studios and retail space.

 DO Heartwalk The latest addition to the beautiful public art installations in Atlantic City, Heartwalk is an award winning sculpture built entirely from hundreds of wooden planks salvaged from the boardwalks of The Rockaways in Queens, Long Beach, Sea Girt and our very own, Atlantic City. It is designed with two ribbons of wooden planks that lift from the ground to form a heart-shaped enclosure that is illuminated every night. Visitors are encouraged to enter the enclosure and literally stand "in the heart" of the world-famous Boardwalk. They can share their photos and love for the AC Boardwalk using #HeartwalkAC.  DO A 3D Light And Sound Extravaganza Atlantic City’s first 3D light and sound extravaganza, Duality returns to the façade of Historic Boardwalk Hall. Using the Hall as a gigantic canvas, the light show features the latest 3D video- mapping technology, stunning animation, and an original music score.  DO A Walk The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and the Atlantic City Alliance have partnered with The Noyes Museum of Art of Richard Stockton College to create the AC Waterfront Sculpture Walk. The winding trail begins just across from Farley State Marina at Golden Nugget and continues to Harrah’s. It is appointed with lush landscape, benches, attractive lighting and stellar waterfront and eco-friendly views. Sculptures along the trail add a new dimension of beauty and appreciation to the arts.

 DO A Tour Take the road less traveled with a Road to the Crown Walking Tour. Begin your adventure in the lobby level rotunda of the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel and along the way, the history of Miss America will present itself before your eyes. Enjoy the dress display and shoe bar; marvel at the historical video and the replca of the first trophy, be “crowned” by Bert Parks, gaze at the wonders of the vinyl window graphics and tiptoe through the Miss America Rose Walk.
