Seminar: DG Awareness with a Focus on Lithium Batteries

AIMS In view of latest changes in dangerous good (DG) and lithium battery (effective from 01 January 2017), and the increasing number of DG incidents involving shipments of undeclared or mis-declared lithium batteries, Carrier Liaison Group (CLG), Hongkong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (HAFFA), The Shippers’ Council (HKSC) and the Transport Logistics Training Board – Vocational Training Council (VTC) would like to invite stakeholders of the industry to attend the seminar receiving the latest update on lithium battery requirements so as to enhance handling in cargo operations. Representatives from the CAD, CLG and CTOs will provide attendees an overview of the 2017 requirements of shipping DG and lithium battery by air, as well as the common issues when tendering DG and lithium battery consignments to the CTOs. Considering that mis-handling and improper shipping of DG including lithium battery by air might cause disastrous consequences, the seminar aims at raising the awareness of the industry, thereby enhancing safety in air cargo transport and maintain a good reputation of the Hong Kong air cargo industry.
