The increase in ‘payment by results’, clinical throughput and evidence-based practice, as well as the changing NHS context means there is an increasing need to provide effective therapeutic treatments within brief time limits where appropriate. The book brings together the developments in theory and practice in time- limited working strategies emerging in the fi eld. The contributors, all practising therapists, examine the practice of time-limited art psychotherapy with different clients in a range of settings, with a variety of approaches, showing how they react and adapt to the changing face of mental health services. Time-Limited Art Psychotherapy will be essential reading to art psychothera- pists, trainers and trainees in art psychotherapy and other schools of psychotherapy who integrate creative approaches within their practice. It will also form a useful contribution to the continuing professional development for a range of psycho- logical therapists and practitioners of integrated psychotherapies such as CAT and mentalization-based therapies amongst others. Rose Hughes is an HCPC registered art psychotherapist and UKCP registered psychotherapist, working in private practice and in the NHS. She has worked primarily in adult mental health since 1983. She has worked primarily in adult mental health since 1983. Michael Atkins trained in Audio Visual Studies at West Surrey College of Art and Design and qualifi ed as an art therapist in 1989, studying in Sheffi eld. He went on to complete the Advanced Training in Art Psychotherapy Diploma at Goldsmiths. Michael has worked in child and adolescent mental health ser- vices since 1998, adding skills in solution focused practice and more recently interpersonal psychotherapy. In recent years Michael has fulfi lled the role of regional co-ordinator for his local regional art therapy group and been team leader. Michael has provided clinical placements for art therapy trainees and has pro vided supervision for colleagues in art and play therapy. Rosalyn Doyle has been an art and design lecturer in a college for 12 years, working with students from a range of learning abilities and ages. She is also a qualifi ed art therapist, currently working in mental health, in an NHS Founda- tion Health Trust community day centre, as an honorary art psychotherapist. She is the librarian for BAAT region 4. Lynne Francis is an HPC registered art therapist and a practising artist. Lynne cur- rently works as a studio manager and art therapist at Studio Upstairs in Bris- tol and in private practice. In her art therapy practice, Lynne brings together mindfulness and art therapy and she also runs training courses in mindfulness and art therapy for the British Association of Art Therapists. Lynne has exten- Downloaded by [New York University] at 13:02 29 November 2016 sive experience of working with a diverse range of individuals and groups in both healthcare and individual settings, holds qualifi cations in both general and mental health nursing and is a qualifi ed secondary school teacher. Sheila Grandison is currently the Training & Workforce Development Lead for Arts Therapies in the East London NHS Foundation Trust, and a former Head of Arts Therapies for Adult Services in the same trust. Sheila is a past chair of BAAT and since 2008 has worked in partnership with Tate Modern, London, developing training programmes related to social justice, mental health and art. xii Contributors She is an executive member of ISPS UK (International Society for Psychologi- cal and Social Approaches to Psychosis) and holds an honorary lecturership in the School of Health Studies, City University, London.
