CAPACITY AND DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF THE PORTS 205. In this chapter, the capacity of the major commercial ports on the northern coast of western Java, i.e., Tanjung Priok, Banten including Ciwandan and Merakmas, and Cirebon, their capacities are evaluated based on the present ship navigation and cargo handling in the ports, inland transport around the ports, and the surrounding environment. 8-A. PORT CAPACITY 8-A-1 Off Shore Capacity (Navigational Capacity) of Tanjung Priok 206. As described in previous chapter, the ship navigational/maneuvering water area is very limited within the port area. Main channel is just for one-way traffic and is overlapped with the ship’s turning basin. Each mooring basin is too narrow to secure safe and smooth berthing. Moreover, the port itself has only one entrance gate. Ship traffic has become severely congested recently and the port’s capacity to accommodate increasing ship calls and larger-seized vessels seems to be limited. 207. Therefore, it is important to determine the port capacity from navigational point of view. In other words, how many ships are able to enter the port with the existing water area condition? In some cases, the port entrance capacity is more critical than the quay side capacity. 1) Condition of Navigational Capacity Estimate 208. The Study team has acquired the latest pilot data, August, October and November 2002, and analyzed effective 85 days’ data. Total records of ship movement are 7,037 and there are 6,742 records excluding berth shifting movements. Average daily in/out ship movements excluding berth shift movements is around 80 movements as shown in Figure 8-A-1. At the port entrance, inflow movement and out flow movement are changing frequently to cater ship side request. Figure 8-A-3 shows relation between daily ship movements and frequency of in/out change. In/out change frequency increase in proportion to the number of ship movements. For use in the latter estimate of navigational capacity, the Study team estimated average vessel speed inside the port. In terms of the container terminals, JICT, Koja and MTI, approaching time and average distance (including turn back distance) are as follows. Assuming the time for turning is 10 minutes, the average vessel speed is calculated as in the same table. Based on this, the average vessel speed inside the port is set 3 knot (=5.6km/hr). In case that vessels are entering/going out sequentially, the interval of 2 vessels are set as 1,000m (=5*LOA), which takes 10.8 minutes (=1,000m/3knot) using the average vessel speed. On the other hand, in case that ship movement is changed from “In” to “Out”, the main channel of the entrance (Channel II) with a distance of 1,100m at least should be block section for one vessel, the time needed for changing movement direction would be minimum 23.8 minutes (=1,100m*2/3knot). =23.8 minute. In case of vice versa, changed from “Out” to “In”, the time needed for changing movement direction is assumed as 10.8 minutes the same time of ship interval in sequence. 54 THE STUDY FOR DEVELOPMENT OF GREATER JAKARTA METROPOLITAN PORTS –FINAL REPORT (VOL.II)– CHAPTER-8 CAPACITY AND DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF THE PORTS 216. Based on the relation between daily movements and frequency of in/out change as examined in 1)-c), as well as based on the above condition for the time of movement change, the cumulative time of ship interval can be calculated according to total ship movements per day.

It is attributed to the collapse of the flank of the Anak Krakatau volcano, especially in its southern and southwestern sectors. The volcano-triggered tsunami devastated the coastal areas of western Java and southern Sumatra, and in particular Banten Province and Lampung Province respectively. It caused 437 fatalities and about 14059 injured people mainly attributed to the tsunami generation during the night and to absence of early tsunami warning. The tsunami arrived at the coastal areas of western Java and southern Sumatra in 24 to 37 minutes after the eruption of Anak Krakatau occurred at 21:03 of December 22 and with heights varying from almost 1 to 6 m based on recordings of tidal stations, eyewitnesses and tsunami marks on structures and vegetation. The research team of the University of Athens visited the worst tsunami-affected areas shortly after the disaster aiming to investigate the impact on the natural and built coastal environment.

The subject of this study is focused on Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach people who understand and use Sundanese Banten dialect and Indonesian language in daily activity. The subject consists of 55 respondents based on education level, age, and gender categories. The data taken were Sundanese Banten dialect speech act by the respondents, both literal and non-literal speech, the information given is the indication of Sundanese Banten dialect shift factors. Data collection technique in this research is triangulation (combination) in the form of participative observation, documentation, and deep interview by using “Basa Urang Project” instrument. This research reveals that the problems related to the indication of Sundanese Banten dialect shift in Tanjung Lesung and Banten Carita Beach which causes identity crisis to Tanjung Lesung and Banten Carita Beach people. This study discovers (1) description of Bantenese people local identity, (2) perception of Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach people on the use of Sundanese Banten dialect in Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach tourism area and (3) the indications of Sundanese Banten dialect shift in Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach tourism area.

It, theoretically, has the potential to endanger democracy due to the different treatment for competing political actors' opportunities, as well as undermine the party's internal mechanisms in recruiting candidates for public officials. The location of this research is Banten Province, where the phenomenon of kinship is very massive happened. The aims of the research are to explore: (1) the history of political dynastic involvement in Local Elections, (2) the factors drive the political dynasty actors to enter the political sphere; (3) the background of the political dynasties involved in the Local Election; (4) the function of political party recruitment in the Local Election, and (5) the instruments are utilized by political dynasty's candidates in the Local Election. The type of research is qualitative, using FGD, interview, and documentation study for collecting data, which will be analyzed using the triangulation method. The results show that democratization and decentralization policy have been the key point for the actors of political kinship network to involve. In addition, The mastery of the economic base became the main driver of the dynastic political actors, so that most of the actors were entrepreneurs. Meanwhile the functions of the party in recruitment are ineffective.

This operation update is issued to provide information on the current situation and response for the Sunda Straight tsunami operation. Widya Setabudi Sumadinata, Netty Prasetiyani One of the provinces that contributes to the emergence of women leadership in Indonesia is Banten. Until recently, there are four mu- nicipal regions which are chair-headed by female mayors out of the eight regions in Banten Province including Lebak regency. Particularly, Lebak has already conducted a direct local election in June to elect its regional head (regent). Nevertheless, it has a unique and interesting case for further study, namely the re-candidation of the incumbent head as the only ‘single’ contestant in the election. As a result, the past female head was successfully re-elected to lead the region for the next five years. What are of significant factors that have successfully contributed to the victory of this female candidate? Of what consid- erations do people finally put their decisions on this female candidate, whether they chose her because of her quality and characteristics of leadership, or any other factors take play to their decisions such as it is only ‘single’ candidate available? Thus, the study sets describe the factors that are contributing to the victory of her as a single candidate in the elections in Lebak district 2018. Banten Province has 701,901 ha of agricultural land with a harvest area of 405,668 ha. The largest agricultural land area in Pandeglang Regency, while the smallest is South Tangerang City. The agricultural land is generally used for rice, but its productivity is still low. Therefore, to increase agricultural productivity, climate-based land optimization is carried out. In optimizing the land, an enterprise architecture planning method is used by integrating climate and land functions. The results of climate analysis, obtained a temperature range of 22.1-37.4oC and rainfall between 0-424 mm with the number of rainy days per year 176-177 rd. Temperature and rainfall conditions in all districts in Banten Province are suitable for improving agriculture. Furthermore, if it is viewed from the land area, Pandeglang and Lebak Regency is suitable to increase rice production. Meanwhile, other food crop production, from five types of food crops produced in Banten Province, which has the potential to be increased, namely corn plants. The ratio between harvested area and land area in Banten Province has only reached 60.15%.

The purpose of this research is to know the role of community in improving the value chain of Muslim-friendly tourism in the COVID-19 pandemic at Geopark Bayah Dome Tourism area, Lebak Regency, Banten province. Methodology in this research is using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) obtained by the most important order is the standard new order, then the aspect of the Geopark and later aspects of Muslim-friendly tourism. As for the sectoral aspect obtained six priority aspects, namely the facility with a weight of 16.3%, a tourist attraction with Bobo 15.6%, public awareness with weights 14.6%, geotourism with a weight of 12.6%, health protocols 11.8%, and which is not less critical is management and information with a weight of 10.7%. Qualitative descriptive analysis of primary data collection through focus group discussion (FGD), and secondary data from regional government agencies of Lebak Regency and other sources. The Output is a recommendation of the role of society that can improve the tourism value chain in the tourism area Bayah Dome becomes a geopark and geotourism area, and the majority of residents embrace Muslim can be developed using the concept of Muslim-friendly tourism.

    THE SEAFLOOR MORPHOLOGHY OF SUNDA STRAIT FOR LAYING THE UNDERWATER CABLES By: Yogi Noviadi1 (Manuscript received 24-July-2010) ABSTRACT The coastal and offshore areas around the Sunda Strait will be developed to be a submarine cable corridor connecting between Java and Sumatra Islands. There are some requirements that should be considered before laying the underwater cables. One of these considerations is to understand the seafloor morphology of the Sunda Strait. The study was conducted based on six of track lines with 1 km line spacing and 4 Cross lines. The water depth obtained then was corrected to the depth of water from the Lowest Water Level (LWL). The seabed condition in the near shore area of Sumatra side is very flat and is influenced by 2 km offshore tide activity. The coast line is characterized by mangrove and fine fraction of sediments (mud and clay). At the Java side, the coastal morphology is characterized by the very steep slope and most of the area is occupied by the industrial activities. Salah satu pertimbangan untuk peletakan kabel bawah laut adalah memahami morfologi dasar laut selat Sunda. Penelitian dilakukan berdasarkan 6 lintasan pemeruman dengan jarak antar lintasan 1 km, dan 4 lintasan memotong lintasan utama. Kedalaman laut yang diperoleh kemudian dikoreksi dengan muka laut terendah. Kondisi permukaan dasar laut di sisi pantai Sumatra sangat datar serta sejauh 2 km ke arah laut lepas masih dipengaruhi oleh aktifitas pasang surut.

The most affected areas include Carita Beach in Banten Province, as well as districts of Padenglang, South Lampung and 1h Serang. The images of damage obtained from Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) reveal a large Java Sea 2h percentage of buildings destroyed by the tsunami. This is IMPACT OVERVIEW 4.1 confirmed by the first result of the tsunami survey As of 5 January conducted by the Indonesian Syiah Kuala University.
