  • John Mceuen Brings with Him 45+ Years of Worldwide Performing with His Banjo, fiddle, Guitar, and Mandolin
John McEuen brings with him 45+ years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Often referred to as 'the String Wizard', he weaves stories of his travels and family life (he has raised 7 kids), taking us through where his musical path has taken him. A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966, John instigated the 1972 classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken album, (inducted in to the Library of Congress as 'one of America's most important recordings). He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy Awards, CMA acclaim, The Western Heritage Award, and many other accolades can be found on his website: www.johnmceuen.com. Proud to be an integral part of the first American band to go to Russia (in 1977!), John's love of performing is evident when during his shows he takes us 'behind the curtain' of the music world that so many of us know of only as listeners, and shows us how we have all been a part of it, more than we may know. McEuen's XM radio show, Acoustic Traveller, is in its 6th year, and you can find his new Americana Music Show on Syndicatednews.net (of which he is CEO) As winner of the 2010 Best of the West Performer award from the Folk Alliance organization, John's show is sure to be one enjoyed by all. He also won Best Bluegrass Album Grammy that year for his production of The Crow - Steve Martin). John in June of 2013 was honored with the Charlie Poole Lifetime Achievement Award in North Carolina.

  • MVE-June2020
The MVEer Monthly June 2020 Interesting Tid-Bits 'Bout Our Songs - by Niel Johnson A few years ago, when I was living in North Carolina, I went to see two of my favorite 80's Pop bands, Pat Benetar and REO Speedwagon. They were playing at a rustic outdoor venue by the lake as part of the local town of Cary, NC's, summer concert series. When news broke of this bill, I immediately readied myself to get a pair of tickets, and I did-- 3rd row, center (perfect!). The weather was perfect. Warm, a little humid, and light July breezy. Pat Benetar opened and did her set and it was fabulous. All the great hits I remember. The only glitch was when a squirrel ran across the stage in between songs, which scared her and made her jump. But it's an outside stage, to be expected, right? REO Speedwagon then took the stage and delivered the big show they've been nailing for years. A big production for a small venue, but still with the lights, lasers, and smoke that bring a heavier-than-you'd expect set list. Wow! So about half-way through the show, Kevin Cronin (pictured here) takes to the front of the stage and says he's gonna slow it down a bit. He introduces the next song as his favorite ballad, one that he wrote initially to be on the "Hi Infidelity" album in 1980. But it was so sweet, he felt it would be overshadowed by the other killer ballads on that iconic album that put REO on the pop map.

  • Starstone, a Jewel Rider Fanfic by Stormdance
Author's note from 2012: This story was written 1995 or thereabouts. I present it here unaltered, for the nostalgic enjoyment of my past fans who requested I post it. Please remember, if this reads like a high-schooler with her first Mary Sue, well, that's exactly what I was! Scroll to the end for a special bonus look at the Trina sequel stories that never saw the light of day! Since then Jewel Riders has changed hands a few times; I think Digiview owns the rights at the moment so please pretend I updated the disclaimers. My old email no longer works; I'm now [email protected] if for some reason you want to email me. Starstone, a Jewel Rider fanfic by Stormdance Disclaimer: Everyone you’ve seen on TV belongs to Amazin Entertainment and/or Robert Mandell as far as I know. Trina, Silverwind, and anyone else are mine. I’m not making any money off this. Author’s note: Hiya all, I’m Stormdance and I’m to blame for the story you’re here to read. There *will* eventually be a Jewel Riders homepage connected to the story, but that’ll be in the future when I can get a computer literate family member to help me make it. While I didn’t knowingly contradict anything in the show, there are episodes I haven’t seen so I’m sure I slipped up somewhere. A lot of this is me writing the way things *might* have happened, especially Fallon and Tamara’s pasts and details about magic and Avalon.
