Bronze Medallion & with CPR-C Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the principles used for water rescue. Participants develop skills in preparation for challenging water rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Participants work on stroke efficiency and complete timed swims. Bronze Cross continues with more advanced lifesaving principles and skills as well as introduces safe supervision in aquatic facilities. The completion of Bronze Cross also earns the participant the CPR-C certificate. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for all advanced training programs, including and Lifesaving Instructor. National Lifeguard - Pool Option The primary role of the National Lifeguard is the prevention of emergency situations and the timely and effective resolution of emergencies. The National Lifeguard certification prepares to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatics in a pool setting. The National Lifeguard program develops the basic lifeguarding skills, principles, and decision-making process to help lifeguards evaluate and adapt to different aquatic facilities and emergencies. Standard First Aid – CPR C AED This 2 day course covers the skills in for life threatening injuries or illnesses plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses including head and spinal injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limbs. This course includes Level C CPR training and certification (Adult , child, infant and 2-rescuer) and AED training. Water Safety Instructor

This course prepares candidates to instruct the Red Cross Swim programs. Candates focus on strategies to introduce and develop fitness activities, skills and water safety, and swimming skills in the Red Cross Swim Preschool, Red Cross Swim @ School, Red Cross Swim @ Camp, Red Cross Swim for Adults and Teens, and Red Cross Swim Adapted programs.

Pre -requisite: 15 years or older by the last day of the WSI - Classroom and Pool, ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids 10 strokes and skills, and hold one of the following certifications (not required to be current): Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard, Emergency First Aid or equivalent

WSI Skills Evaluation and Introduction December 18, 2020 @ 3:00-8:30 PM $40.00

WSI- Online – 14-20 hours To be completed before starting Teaching Experience $165.00

WSI Teaching Experience – minimum of 8 hours To be arranged with Aquafun Centre Programmer or other aquatic facility. Must be completed before the Classroom/pool session. There is no cost for this component.
