CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES & PARISH OUTREACH “Serving one another by supporting our parish communities.” Our Catholic life begins and ends in the Parish because a Parish is the gathering of God’s faithful people. Today, more than ever, we connect with our fellow parishioners, reinforcing our faith and keeping it vital for the next generation of Catholics. It is crucial that we foster a rich parish life, where neighbors, families and friends come together in the spirit of Catholic fellowship. The Office for Parish Life assists in all aspects of Liturgy & Worship, Service & Social concerns, Community and Family Development. Your gifts fund such programs as networking and training for Youth Ministry Leaders, Directors of Religious Education music and Liturgical Ministry, Bereavement Support, Social Concerns and Parish Councils. Rosary Rally in Towanda—Saturday, October 15, 2016—Bradford County Courthouse at noon In these troubled times, we must take up the powerful weapon of the Rosary prayer. We celebrate the 99th an- niversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima in 1917, October 13, witnessed by 70,000 people. Many times in history, the Rosary, prayed by many faithful souls, has turned back the forces of evil and saved Christianity. The Blessed Mother at Fatima asked us for prayer and penance for the forgiveness of sin; “Will you give your- self to God?” and left us with the hope, “My immaculate heart will triumph.” Please take a few minutes at noon on October 15th to join thousands of fellow Catholics to pray the Rosary for the intentions of our church and our Nation. Rosary Rally at noon in front of the Bradford County Courthouse, Main Street, Towanda.. Lo- cal rally captain is Sheila Boyek: 570-265-5616; [email protected]. Grace Connection Grace Connection has given fire victims all the bed rolls and blankets that they had, so now their shelves are empty. If you have blankets, sheets, bed rolls, etc. or make ugly quilts and would like to donate them, Grace Connection will put them to good use. One of the fire victims told us (Grace Connection) that we were the most compassionate and generous of all the agencies. That’s because we work in the Lord’s name. Thank you for your continued support. Contact: Grace Connection: 570-268-0431 (Mon & Thurs 1-4 pm); or Carol Ullo: 610-390-9279. We also served approximately 794 senior (60 yrs. plus) families through our Elder Share/Fresh Express pro- gram. The need for food assistance continues and is growing in our area. Thank you for always thinking of us. There is a box in the entrance of the church for donations of unexpired food staples for the Food Pantry. Corporal Works of Mercy #1: Feed the Hungry

Dan Schutte in Concert - Friday, October 7, 2016

Have you ever gone home from church humming “Send Us Your Spirit, O Lord,” or ‘Sing a New Song Unto the Lord”? The writer of those hymns, and others like “Here I am, Lord” and “City of God,” is Dan Schutte. He will be performing in Scranton on Friday, October 7, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, in the concert headlining the annual Diocesan Congress this year. See contact information in the above article.

Parish Year of Mercy Pilgrimage Last Saturday, fifteen pilgrims from our parish journeyed to the St. Peter Cathedral in Scranton to pass through the Holy Doors during this Jubilee Year of Mercy, as declared by Pope Francis last November. Jesus Christ is the model of mercy as it is to be lived as He lived it, which was described and explained during the presentation on the morning of our arrival. Opportunities for faith sharing, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, meditation in the prayer garden and quiet spaces, and then attending Holy Mass were followed by a hearty lunch in the Pastoral Center. It was a joyful, spiritual experience filled with many blessings, to be shared among more than 300 other pilgrims from fifteen parishes attending that weekend. Rosary was recited en route with our bus-mates from Epiphany parish. Take-home: to Meditate on the Merciful Face of Jesus.

Autumn Offering at St. Gabriel’s Retreat Center October 21-23, 2016: “The Christ” preached retreat for men and women.
