Ardfinnan Football Club

Ardfmnan GAA Club was founded around 1907. In its early years the club did not achieve much success. In 1935 the club won its first senior championship and this was, repeated in 1939 . .The sixties saw the club enter its most successful era with five South and three Countytities. From 1968 to 1974 the club contested all county senior finals and won two. Current Tipperary Manager, Bahs Keating, played a starring role for the club in those successful years. At juvenile level the club has been very successful having won South Championship in all grades and County Championship at U-t2 and U-J4. In 1993 the club won the All-Ireland U-14 PeB oa Nog Competition and brought great honour and glory to the club. In 1983 the club purchased 6 acres of land and developed it into this playing field here today. A covered stand, four dressing rooms and car park were developed and were officially opened in 1988. The field is now a credit to all concerned and in one of the fmest in . Finally, we would like to thank all who have supported us here today and in the past. E.O'Gorman Construction

Local Rep.: Gerard Meagher NEW IRELAND ASS U RAN C E MOYLE ROVERS The Moyle Rovers GAA club was founded In 1928. Previous to that teams had been affiliated from the parish of Powerstown and under the names of Moyle Rangers and Powerstown. Records show that the first team from the parish was affiliated in 1885, the year after the foundation of the GAA. The club's first major success was in 1931 when the Junior footballers brought back the county title to the parish . Having been promoated to the Senior grade, their only success was in 1938 when they were victorious in the Keating Cup and medals. Having re-graded back to Junior a dormant period ensued, theonlysucess being a tournament victory in 1949/50. The present resurgence began in 1956. The club was successful in No. 2 Junior football in 1957. In 1959 the second county Junior football title was brought back tothe parish. The club has competed almost continuously in the Senior Championship since that date. The club failed in their first three final appearances in 1933, 1973 and 1989 before achieving their only success in 1991 . The club in this present year are fielding a total of fourteen teams in Senior and Juvenile championsh ips. Hurling, too, is successfully played by all our teams. Theacquisition and development of Moyle Park since 1983 has helped immeasureably with the progress of all the teams in the club.

Both teams met in South Final at KUsheelan November 26,1989.

Fax: 052-25018 'PtzUeteM 01 tiu 'P~ Anthony Wall CLONMEL COMMERCIALS Anthony was born on 8th November, 1970, in Co. Tipperary. He attended St. Mary's CBS, Irishtown and in due course progressed to the Christian Brothers High School. Anthony is currently employed by The Manor Produce Company Ltd., where he holds the position of Purchasing Controller. His interest in Gaelic hurling and football developed throughout his years attending St. Mary's and was further enhanced by his membership of St. Mary's Hurling Club, Cion mel and Clonmel Commercials. Anthony has participated at club and inter-county level in both codes. Anthony holds 3 South Football Medals (1 987, 1989, 1994),3 County Medals (1989, 1990, 1994), 3 Clonmel Oil League medals (1988, 1990, 1994) and a Tipperary Mans Cup (1988), at senior level. His success at underage level ranges from representing the Tipp Schools in 1980 to an U-21 South Medal in 1990. Although football may be to the fore in the South, Anthony, like many of his fellow clubmen is a dual player and has had success with the small ball game also. Anthony currently possesses 3 Minor (1986,1987, 1988) and 2 U-21 (1987, 1968) South titles. Perhaps his greatest achievement to date is his membership of the U-21 Tipperary Hurling team in 1990 and their subsequent Munster title. The football outings by Clonmel Commercials - who have so gallantly represented and done much to enhance football in Tipperary - have also been very memorable, in particular their defeat of Kerry's Austin Stacks in their own back garden last year. Anthony has been honoured by the Division by being chosen as the Young Footballer of The Year (1968) and Footballer of The Year (1994) - honours also bestowed on many of his fe llow team-mates- and was awareded Man Of The Match in last year's county final. These players, however, will be the first to admit that teamwork plays an important part in the success of any club and Clonmel Commercials' success can be attributed to the nice blend of youth and experience that comprises their team.
