Manchester City FC will have their sights set on a first ever UEFA Champions League quarter-final when they take on FC Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg of this round of 16 tie. • Having reached the knockout round as group winners for the first time, City will visit Kyiv looking to achieve another first, but Dynamo will have other ideas as they bid to reach the last eight for the first time since 1999. Previous meetings • Dynamo prevailed 2-1 on aggregate when the clubs met in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League round of 16. Andriy Shevchenko and Oleh Gusev struck in a 2-0 first-leg win and City's 1-0 victory back in Manchester, through Aleksandar Kolarov's free-kick, was not enough to save them. • The lineups for the first leg on 10 March 2011 were: Dynamo: Shovkovskiy, Danilo Silva, Khacheridi, Yussuf, Popov, Gusev, Eremenko, Vukojević, Yarmolenko, Shevchenko (Ninković 88), Milevskiy. Man. City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Kolarov (Wright-Phillips 82), Barry, Touré, Balotelli (Tévez 57), Džeko, Silva. Match background Dynamo Kyiv • Group G runners-up Dynamo are competing in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1999/2000 – when coach Serhiy Rebrov was leading their attack. • Rebrov's men are on a nine-match unbeaten home run in UEFA competition dating back to February 2014. • The Ukrainian title holders have faced one English team already in this season's group stage, drawing 0-0 at home with Chelsea FC but losing 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. • Dynamo's last win over opposition was against Everton FC (5-2) in last season's UEFA Europa League round of 16. Andriy Yarmolenko, Łukasz Teodorczyk, Miguel Veloso, Oleh Gusev and Antunes all struck as they overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit. • Dynamo have lost only two of 13 previous home matches against English opposition (W5 D6 L2). • The last English side to win at Dynamo were Manchester United FC in the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League group stage (2-4). Olexandr Shovkovskiy and Gusev were in the beaten home team. Manchester City • This is only City's second visit to Ukraine. • City won two of their three away games – at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach (2-1) and Sevilla FC (3-1) – in finishing top of Group D. • City have lost all of their three previous two-legged ties in Europe's elite club competition – against Fenerbahçe SK (first round, 1968/69) and FC Barcelona (round of 16, 2013/14 and 2014/15). On each occasion they travelled away for the second leg and lost. • If City have yet to reach the quarter-finals, their coach Manuel Pellegrini has been there with two different clubs – Villarreal CF (2005/06, 2008/09) and Málaga CF (2012/13). Coach and player links • Rebrov played for Tottenham Hotspur FC (2000–04: 75 games, 16 goals) and West Ham United FC (2004–05: 32 games, 2 goals). His two appearances against City came with Spurs in 2000/01: a 0-0 home draw and 1-0 away victory in which he scored the 89th-minute winner. • Rebrov's last appearance in England as a Dynamo player was the 4-0 group stage defeat at Manchester United in 2007/08 – the penultimate European outing of his playing career. • Overall Rebrov scored three goals in five appearances against English clubs for Dynamo (W1 D2 L2). His only victory was a 3-1 home success over Arsenal FC in the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League group stage in which he hit the opening goal. • With Ukraine, Rebrov faced England in a 2-0 friendly defeat at Wembley in May 2000. • In his first European campaign with Villarreal, Pellegrini oversaw a 2-0 aggregate victory over Dynamo in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup round of 32, featuring a 2-0 second-leg home success on 24 February 2005. • In eight seasons with FC Shakhtar Donetsk (2005–13), Fernandinho won six league titles and four Ukrainian Cups – two of those final victories coming against Dynamo (2008, 2011). Voted 2008 Ukrainian player of the year, he lost the

Yevhen Khacheridi, Denys Garmash and Yarmolenko appeared for Ukraine. • It was at the Donbass Arena, Donetsk that Dynamo's Ukraine contingent lost to both Samir Nasri's France (0-2) and Joe Hart's England (0-1) at UEFA EURO 2012. • Garmash scored in Ukraine's 2-0 victory over England in the final of the 2009 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Donetsk. Serhiy Rybalka also featured. Match facts Dynamo Kyiv • Vitaliy Buyalskiy, Danilo Silva, Nikita Korzun and Rybalka are a booking away from a ban. 10 FC Dynamo Kyiv - Manchester City FC Wednesday 24 February 2016 - 20.45CET (21.45 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskyi, Kyiv Head coach Serhiy Rebrov Date of birth: 3 June 1974 Nationality: Ukrainian Playing career: FC Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Dynamo Kyiv, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Fenerbahçe SK, West Ham United FC, FC Rubin Kazan Coaching career: FC Dynamo Kyiv • A striker, Rebrov came through the ranks at Shakhtar but made his name at Dynamo, where he formed a potent partnership with Andriy Shevchenko and won eight Ukrainian titles in the 1990s before adding another after his return in 2007. He was twice named Ukrainian player of the year and earned 75 caps for the national team, and was in the side that reached the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in 2006. • Rebrov was the first player to score 100 goals in the Ukrainian top flight; now every player who matches the feat becomes part of an elite group, unofficially known as the Serhiy Rebrov club. • After eight successful years at Dynamo, Rebrov moved to England to join Tottenham before winning titles in Turkey (Fenerbahçe, 2004) and Russia (Rubin, 2008). Finished his playing career in 2009 as a 35-year-old, and became assistant coach at Dynamo reserves. • He was appointed as an interim coach of Dynamo in April 2014, replacing Oleh Blokhin and started his tenure with a Ukrainian Cup triumph, the Kyiv club's first trophy in five years. • Three days after the final he signed his permanent contract. His first full season in charge brought a domestic double, an undefeated Dynamo securing the Premier League title with two matches to spare and also reaching the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. Manuel Pellegrini Date of birth: 16 September 1953 Nationality: Chilean Playing career: CF Universidad de Chile Coaching career: CF Universidad de Chile, CD Palestino (three times), Chile Under-20, CD O'Higgins, CD Universidad Católica, LDU de Quito, CA San Lorenzo de Almagro, CA River Plate, Villarreal CF, Real Madrid CF, Málaga CF, Manchester City FC • The former centre-back began his coaching career in 1988 with the sole club of his playing days, Universidad de Chile, before spending the next 16 years working with sides in Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. • Took over at Villarreal in 2004, guiding them to third place in the Liga in his debut season and securing a place in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. His side also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. • The following campaign, Villarreal defied expectations by reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, losing 1-0 on aggregate to Arsenal FC. Guided team to second place in the 2007/08 Liga, a club record, and the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals the following season, again knocked out by Arsenal. • Joined Real Madrid on 2 June 2009, the Merengues winning a then club record 96 points in the Liga but still finishing second behind FC Barcelona, prompting Pellegrini's dismissal in May 2010. That November he succeeded Jesualdo Ferreira as coach of Málaga and in the following campaign oversaw a fourth-placed league finish, the club's best ever. • In an echo of his feats with Villarreal, he took the Andalusian team through UEFA Champions League qualifying and all the way to the quarter-finals. In summer 2013, joined Manchester City on a three-year deal and won the Premier League and League Cup in his first season, although his next year ended without a trophy.
