Brief Information About the Agency Th DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL PROSECUTOR OF RIZAL CITIZEN’S CHARTER I. Brief Information about the Agency The Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Rizal (OPP-Rizal) is under the National Prosecution Service (NPS) which is mandated to assist the Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the performance of powers and functions of the Department relative to its role as the prosecution arm of the government, particularly the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses. The said mandate and present NPS organization are contained in Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1275 dated April 11, 1978, as amended, and EO 292 dated July 25, 1987. OPP-Rizal receives criminal cases from thirteen (13) different municipalities under the Province of Rizal and from one (1) municipality from the National Capital Region (NCR), which is Pateros. Based on Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as of August 1, 2015, the province of Rizal posted a total population of 2,884,000. This includes the municipalities of Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jala-jala, Morong, Pililla, Rodriguez (formerly Montalban), San Mateo, Tanay, Taytay and Teresa. In addition, Pateros City which is located in the National Capital Region (NCR) and has a population of 63,840, also file their criminal cases through OPP-Rizal. In particular, it receives criminal cases which emanates from fourteen (14) different localities. OPP-Rizal’s main office is presently located at RPJ Compound, Cabrera Road, Barangay Dolores, Kaytikling, Taytay Rizal. It has six (6) sub-offices or stations located in Cainta, Binangonan, Morong, San Mateo, Pateros and Tanay. II. Vision A just and peaceful society anchored on the principles of transparency, accountability, fairness and truth III. Mission Effective, efficient and equitable administration of justice IV. Service Pledge “The OPP-Rizal is committed to effective and efficient administration of justice” As such, the OPP-Rizal shall undertake the following: • Effective provision of services that will satisfy the needs of clients; • Compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements; and • Regular evaluation of our risks and opportunities, feedback of clients and efficacy of the management system for continual improvement. In its 8:00 AM, 26 January 2020 advisory, the agency has lowered the alert status of Taal Volcano from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3 (decreased tendency towards hazardous Eruption), recommending that entry into Taal’s Permanent Danger Zone within seven 7-kilometer radius from the Main Crater is strictly prohibited.
