6 SPEAKER’S STATEMENT—CENTENARY OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR

The Speaker made a statement in relation to the Centenary of the First World War and the assault on Mont Saint-Quentin in August 1918.

7 MINISTERIAL ARRANGEMENT

Mr , on behalf of Ms , informed the House that the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research would answer questions today in the absence of the Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Women, and Minister for Ageing.

8 ASSUMPTION OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE GOVERNMENT BY THE LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR

The Speaker reported the following message from His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor:

(1) Mr Anthony Roberts tabled the Annual Report and Determination of the Parliamentary Remuneration Tribunal on Additional Entitlements for Members of the Parliament of New South Wales, dated 16 May 2018.

(2) Mr tabled the report on the Statutory Review of the Criminal Procedure Amendment (Mandatory Pre-trial Defence Disclosure) Act 2013, dated August 2018.

14 AUDITOR-GENERAL

The Clerk, in accordance with section 63C of the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983, announced receipt of the Performance Audit Report of the Auditor-General entitled “Managing antisocial behaviour in public housing”, dated 10 August 2018 (received 10 August 2018).

15 LEGISLATION REVIEW COMMITTEE

Mr James Griffin, Chair, tabled the report of the Legislation Review Committee entitled “Legislation Review Digest No. 59/56”, dated 14 August 2018.

17 PETITIONS

The Clerk announced that the following members had each lodged petitions for presentation:

Mr Geoff Provest—from certain citizens requesting the Legislative Assembly subsidise the cost of livestock feed and freight, to allow rural fire, fire and rescue services to deliver water, subsidise the cost of farm household water, expand the Farm Innovation Fund to promote the collection and storage of livestock genetics, provide low-interest loans for livestock and crops and suspend Local Land Service fees for the duration of the drought.

20 MOTION ACCORDED PRIORITY—WAGGA WAGGA BASE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT

Mrs Leslie Williams moved, pursuant to notice, That this House:

(1) Notes the conga line of Labor premiers and ministers that promised to redevelop Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, including:

(a) Bob Carr; (b) John Hatzistergos; (c) Morris Iemma; (d) Reba Meagher; (e) Nathan Rees; and (f) John Della Bosca.

(2) Condemns Labor for repeatedly misleading the people of Wagga Wagga and never upgrading the Base Hospital.

(3) Acknowledges the current Government began work to redevelop Wagga Wagga Base Hospital within months of being elected.

(4) Recognises the Government have delivered on its promise, with stages one and two complete and stage three underway.

21 DEATH OF JOSEPH JOHN SCHIPP, A FORMER MINISTER OF THE CROWN

Ms Gladys Berejiklian moved, That this House extends to the family the deep sympathy of members of the Legislative Assembly in the loss sustained by the death, on 23 November 2017, of the Honourable Joseph John Schipp, a former Minister of the Crown.

The motion was seconded by Mr and supported by Mr , Mr Andrew Fraser, Mr Austin Evans and Mr Thomas George.

22 MESSAGE FROM THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Deputy Speaker reported a message from the Legislative Council dated 14 August 2018, returning the Unexplained Wealth (Commonwealth Powers) Bill, without amendment.
