BobTalk: This is my latest hit off of my latest record. This song usually gets played for about maybe a day or two, we're just gonna play it for a little while! (before Wiggle Wiggle). A little hard to hear tonight. Ha-Ha!! It's very hard to hear tonight! Anyway ... (after Homeward Bound). OK! That was on my mind too! (response to a request from the audience before People Putting People Down). This is my anti-drug theme. It's one of the first anti-drug songs ever\fI written. (before Mr. Tambourine Man). Sometimes you just got to say things the way they are you know. Lots of people came down on me for writing this song, but that's the way it is. Stipendiet delades ut under en ceremoni på Kulturhuset Stadsteatern i Stockholm på måndagskvällen. Det är fjärde året som Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål delar ut fem stipendier som enligt donatorns vilja ska stödja konstnärskap som kan förväntas få stor betydelse för kulturarvet. Motivering Neneh Cherry är en levande ikon som alltid legat i konstnärlig framkant. Hon har konstant fortsatt att utvecklas musikaliskt och utforska olika uttryck på ett unikt sätt. Hon är en av Sveriges största artister i modern tid, med ett inflytande på samtida popkultur som saknar motsvarighet. Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål 2012 donerade finansmannen och konstälskaren Per Gannevik cirka 60 miljoner kronor till Konstnärsnämnden. I enlighet med testamentvillkoren bildades då Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål. Stiftelsens ändamål är att stödja nu verksamma konstnärer som kan förväntas ha betydelse för kulturarvet. Stipendiaterna kommer att sökas inom de fem konstområden som Konstnärsnämnden vanligtvis stödjer – bild och form, musik, teater, dans och film. Stiftelsens styrelse är i enlighet med stadgarna densamma som Konstnärsnämndens styrelse. Om Neneh Cherry Neneh Cherry är född 1964 i Stockholm. Hon växte upp i Skåne, men hoppade av skolan i Hässleholm och flyttade som fjortonåring till London för att ägna sig åt musik. Hon har under perioder bott i flera andra länder sedan dess, men den brittiska huvudstaden är hennes nuvarande bostadsort.     Woody Guthrie Annual, 4 (2018): Carney, “With Electric Breath” “With Electric Breath”: Bob Dylan and the Reimagining of Woody Guthrie (January 1968) Court Carney In 1956, police in New Jersey apprehended Woody Guthrie on the presumption of vagrancy. Then in his mid-40s, Guthrie would spend the next (and last) eleven years of his life in various hospitals: Greystone Park in New Jersey, Brooklyn State Hospital, and, finally, the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, where he died. Woody suffered since the late 1940s when the symptoms of Huntington’s disease first appeared—symptoms that were often confused with alcoholism or mental instability. As Guthrie disappeared from public view in the late 1950s, 1,300 miles away, Bob Dylan was in Hibbing, Minnesota, learning to play doo-wop and Little Richard covers. 1 Young Dylan was about to have his career path illuminated after attending one of Buddy Holly’s final shows. By the time Dylan reached New York in 1961, heavily under the influence of Woody’s music, Guthrie had been hospitalized for almost five years and with his motor skills greatly deteriorated. This meeting between the still stylistically unformed Dylan and Woody—far removed from his 1940s heyday—had the makings of myth, regardless of the blurred details. Whatever transpired between them, the pilgrimage to Woody transfixed Dylan, and the young Minnesotan would go on to model his early career on the elder songwriter’s legacy. More than any other of Woody’s acolytes, Dylan grasped the totality of Guthrie’s vision. Beyond mimicry (and Dylan carefully emulated Woody’s accent, mannerisms, and poses), Dylan almost preternaturally understood the larger implication of Guthrie in ways that eluded other singers and writers at the time.2 As his career took off, however, Dylan began to slough off the more obvious Guthrieisms as he moved towards his electric-charged poetry of 1965-1966.

Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
