Doug Kaupp, Chairman Sector Represented: City of Lethbridge The Oldman River is the source of supply for 105,000 people in Lethbridge and the surrounding communities that get drinking water from the City of Lethbridge treatment plant. The City does not have the jurisdiction or resources to directly control the potential risks to the water supply. It is only through the multi- stakeholder engagement demonstrated by the Oldman Watershed Council that the vast geographical area and diverse public and commercial interests involved can effectively be addressed. Biography Anne Stevick, Treasurer Sector Represented: Members-at-Large I find the Board of Directors of OWC to be an interesting and diverse group, who take on interesting and diverse projects to help preserve and improve the Oldman Watershed. Personally I find it very motivating and inspirational to see the projects that OWC completes; and to see the passion that the OWC employees exhibit in carrying out their jobs. Professionally, I find the experience gained on the "Board" very useful in future committee involvement and work in conservation/agriculture. Riley Sawyer OWC Lunch and Learn We had our first Lunch and Learn on September 30 to share updates on our Engaging Recreationists and Film Projects and we had many great discussions and networking ice breakers. About 40 people joined us to hear the results from our research over the summer interviewing and surveying off highway vehicle (OHV) recreationists and William Singer III giving update on the backcountry campers, as filming on the Blood Reserve well as reviewing existing information. Our key learning is that there are 2 distinct types of OHV users who are looking for different experiences and therefore have different needs. We now have a much better understanding of Discussion on the the user perspective and will use this research to guide Engaging Recreationists Project the design of our programs for next summer. The film trailer was also shown and we shared how the summer has been very challenging for capturing footage between all the rain, smoke and even ticks.
