Requiem – 1962 Missal On the day of the funeral The Burial Service Bearing the Corpse to the church The Priest, vested in surplice and black stole or possibly black cope, goes to the house of the deceased, accompanied by the Clergy (or at the hearse if attendance at the house is not possible). He is preceded by the Cross bearer and an acolyte carrying holy water. If the funeral is in the evening, Vespers and Matins may be said, or Matins only, or the first Nocturn only. At the end of the Office, after the repetition of the Antiphon of the Benedíctus : Ego sum resurréctio, or, if Lauds are not said, after the Nocturn or Nocturns of Matins, or if the office is not said then continue with the following.
