In this age when so much emphasis is being placed on the materialistic values of life, it gives us joy to have a port in the cultural enrichment of the lives of the hundreds of boys and girls who come to T ransylvania Music Camp for

"a vacation with a purpose." It is difficult to explain just what Transylvania is and means. It is something special and must be experienced and felt to be truly appreciated. What makes Transylvania something special? It is the men and women who have served during the years on the faculty and staff, the students, the trustees, and the untold generosity of numbers of friends.

AI) of these people are dedicated to the principles for which Transylvania stands, shoring their knowledge, their ideals, and their hopes, working to gether in one of the most beautiful areas in the Southeastern port of our country.

As we approach the 25th year at ! ransylvanla, we pause In appreCiation at those who have, over the years, given so much to make Transylvania musical ly unique and spiritually significant, and we look forward with determination to expanding the horizons for Transylvania. In the fulfillment o f our dream, we invite you to join with us in the tremendously exciting and rewording venture wh ich lies ahead. Electronic Version by CJ Pletzke

The Brevard Music Festival affords a gala climax to Transylvania's six-week Camp Season. First held in 1946, the Festival Concert Series is further proof of the out standing musicianship developed in these youngsters during their stay at the Brevard Music Center.

Throughout the summer, talented students strive for perfection in their work, looking forward to the possibili ty of being among the advanced campers chosen to per form in the Festival Orchestra. Festival is a magic ward ... representing the ultimate in musical achievement.

Having worked side by side with experienced faculty personnel in the orchestra during the Camp Season, stu dents have obtained unique coaching under actual play ing conditions. Thus, Festival offers students the oppor tunity to display what they have learned during the Camp Season. The result ... a tremendously successful Brevard Music Festival .. . nationally recognized for its quality musicianship.

Year after year, the Brevard Music Festival continues to stand as an inspiration to all young musicians ... with their many long hours of practice comes the supreme sat isfaction of a jab well done.
