021121 Easton Corbin Press Release Chart-Topping Country Music Singer Easton Corbin at the Florida Theatre on Thursday, February 11, 2021 Tickets On Sale Friday, January 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Jacksonville, Fla. (January 4, 2021) – The Florida Theatre welcomes chart-topping country music singer Easton Corbin on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. “Turn up a little Conway Twitty,” Easton Corbin croons in his distinctive Southern drawl on latest single “Turn Up.” Within the track, Corbin blends traditional instrumentation with modern day production alongside vivid country storytelling for a sound that is uniquely his. Corbin exudes country. His distinctive baritone has been gracing airwaves for the past decade as his chart topping debut single “A Little More Country Than That” established Corbin as a mainstay on the country charts. Billboard’s 2010 Top New Country Artist would go on to garner another No. 1 hit with the feel-good “Roll With It,” and several other chart topping singles like “A Girl Like You,” “Baby Be My Love Song,” “Lovin’ You Is Fun,” “All Over The Road,” “I Can’t Love You Back” and more. Florida-native Corbin continues to distinguish himself from other male vocalists as a tried-and-true country traditionalist who weaves timeless story songs together while tipping his hat to the classic country artists who have come before him. “That’s what I love and that’s what I do,” he says of his passion for traditional country music. “For me, it's about keeping one foot in the traditional and one foot in the modern and marrying those two. I’m a country singer: That's one of the things that I take pride in. I try to hone that craft and try to represent that.” While 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of “A Little More Country Than That” achieving No. 1 status, Corbin shows no sign of slowing down with the release of his infectious new single “Turn Up” and more new music on the way. He promises a “wide array” of songs that include fiddle and pedal steel. As he embarks on a new chapter as an independent artist, Corbin says “A Little More Country Than That” still reflects who he is as an artist and where he sees his career going. “That's really how I grew up,” he says of his career-defining song. “‘A Little More Country Than That’ radiates with me and my band as well because that really is who I am. That's where I came from, that's what I am. It’s just as important now as it was then, because that's the one that started it all for me. That’s definitely a staple of an Easton Corbin show. I think it also defines my audience and who they are.” This will be a socially-distanced event with health and safety protocols in place. Patrons can visit floridatheatre.com/home/breaking-news for the most up to date information on The Florida Theatre’s safety protocols and general updates. Additionally, ticket purchasers will be notified by email of specific safety requirements prior to the event. The historic, nonprofit Florida Theatre is sponsored by Community First Credit Union. BOBAFLEX INTERVIEW WITH SHAUN MCCOY 5/21/16 Hartford, CT By: Nina McCarthy, Music Journalist [email protected] A special thank you to my friend Heidi Marion for sitting in on the interview and to Nathan Jones, Tour Manager for his amazing hospitality and Doug Weber at new Ocean Media for making it possible. BRR: You’ve probably had this question a million times, but you and Marty have ancestors back to the famous Hatfield/McCoy feud. Can you enlighten us a little bit on that? Shaun: Our family comes from the Tug River. They migrated from that area, and that’s where it all kind of took place. As far as a family tree, I have a hard time because we are just told and we go to the family reunions but our great grandfather did not have a social security number and he was shot and killed when he was 21 for stealing a horse in the mountains. He wasn’t a guy that had a lot of paperwork. So, we just go on our great aunts and uncles and who they say our other members are. But our little branch of McCoy's went from the Tug after the feud and died down and moved onto a little section of Lincoln County, West Virginia. That’s where our McCoys are from, which is only about two hours from where it all took place. We kind of migrated just a little bit North in West Virginia, but we’re still there. BRR: I read something about that when you go back now, the Hatfields just kill you with drinking? Shaun: We actually meet the Hatfields all over the road and they just try to kill us with bourbon now.

June 1, 2015, Issue 450 Addressing SaladGate Six pages of in-depth reporting on Women In Country and a post-CRS panel write-up in which Keith Hill urged slashing female- voiced songs made nary a ripple outside the business a few months back. But the consultant’s lettuce-and-tomatoes analogy last week in this space touched off a social and, eventually, major media tidal wave. Go figure. We’ll get to Hill in the next story (right), after female PDs and MDs weigh in with their thoughts on a well-known though still confounding reality. In full disclosure, some of the women we contacted declined to contribute for lack of time or lack of what they felt would be helpful feedback. Some passed because they weren’t comfortable publicly commenting in a “no-win argument.” And some came to us asking to be part of the conversation. Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

  • Easton Corbin
Easton Corbin All Over The Road Biography “Easton Corbin has one of those rare, glorious voices that was made—just made—for singing country music.” –American Songwriter With two No. 1 singles, multiple awards and nominations, plus performances on some of the biggest stages in the world, Easton Corbin made an auspicious entree with his self-titled debut album. The release of his sophomore effort, All Over the Road, builds on that success and delivers music that confirms that Easton Corbin is here to stay. When Easton broke on the scene in 2009 with not one, but two, No. 1 singles, “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It,” and a Top 15 hit, “I Can’t Love You Back,” the country music world was put on notice. He became the first country male artist in 17 years to have his first two consecutive singles reach No. 1. Billboard named Easton the Top New Country Artist of 2010 and named "Roll With It" the No. 6 Hot Country Song of the Year. He was ranked No. 9 on Billboard’s list of Top Country Artists-Male, listed between Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw. With three American Country Awards in 2010 and blockbuster tours with Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton, Easton set the bar high for his sophomore release. Not surprisingly, the hard-working Gilchrist County, Florida native—“Everybody knows everybody,” he says—delivers in spades. The new collection—like the first, produced by top Nashville producer Carson Chamberlain (Billy Currington)—finds Easton improving upon his impressive debut.
