SIDE EVENT COP22 MARRAKECH 10-17 NOVEMBRE 2016 + BALAD_E : A SIDE EVENT

 BALAD_E is a one-of-a-kind event organized by Art of Change 21 in collaboration with the artist Hassan Hajjaj for COP22.

 It will take place November 10th to the 17th in Marrakech, Morocco, in the Riad Yima of Hassan Hassan, as well as throughout the city with PIKALA BALAD_E, through thematic bike organized in partnership with Pikala Foundation.

 Art of Change 21 will also have a booth at COP22’s Green Zone (Innovation and Civil Society area). + BALAD_E : A SIDE EVENT

 The unification of culture, innovation, society and environment

 The spirit of entrepreneuship and innovation for a desirable future

The name BALAD_E: Balad is a very old Arabic word, it refers to a town, city or country but also to the process and civilization. An E is added to the Arab word BALAD, it forms the french word “Balade” which means a stroll. BALAD_E proposes a stroll into the “no carbon” world, in a joyful way, through the past and the future. + The Riad Yima + THE RIAD YIMA

A unique place in , Riad Yima is dedicated to art, gastronomy, recycling, fashion, music and exchange.

It is the property of artist, photographer and designer of contemporary lifestyle, Hassan Hajjaj, who promotes “upcycling” and collaborates with local communities.

Riad Yima, a gallery-shop-lounge, becomes a highlight and welcomes BALAD_E.

The artist Hassan Hajjaj will be present and will contribute to the artistic and cultural programming of BALAD_E. + HASSAN HAJJAJ

Hassan Hajjaj was born in 1961 in Larache, Morocco. He lives and works between and Marrakech. He is one of Morocco’s preeminent international artists.

Hassan Hajjaj has a diverse practice that includes installation, performance, fashion, and furniture design. He promotes “upcycling” which is at the heart of his creation and collaborates with local communities.

An intercultural and multidisciplinary interaction between leaders, cultural representatives for sustainable development, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Talks, debates and networking will aid the advancement of ecological transitions in a casual setting everyday in the Riad Yima.

Artists, socials entrepreneurs, business leaders, eco-innovators meet, exchange and inspire each other.. + THE PALEO ENERGETIC FRESCO

The Paleo-Energetic Fresco (by Atelier 21 / Solar Sound System) will be exhibited on the first floor of the Riad. It has been created specifically for COP22.

The Paleo-Energetic Fresco traces the history of the discovery of clean and renewable energies around the world and in Africa, Maghreb and Middle East !

In Egypt, in 1913, the largest solar installation was created!

Founded in 2014, Paléo- énergétique is a civic and participatory research programme which aims to collectively rewrite the history of energy by exploring the past in order to innovate more intelligently. + CULTURAL PROGRAMMING

Each day, a cultural moment is happening with concerts and art performances.

Musical programming is held by Hassan Hajjaj. Traditional musicians and current groups highlight the Moroccan cultural vibrancy.

Artistic interventions are also planned. Carte Flux radiants, Yann Toma blanche will be given, one to Hassan Hajjaj and the other to Yann Toma, official UN observer artist, who will make a performance by creating radiant flux portraits from solar lamps.

Yann Toma is the author of Human Energy, a monumental and participatory work at the Eiffel Tower (COP21).

Maalem Marouane + WORKSHOPS They play a key role in the programming. Intended for the general public and for those involved in COP22, they allow everyone to experience the ecological transition and to express its creative and imaginative talents.

The association Art of Change 21 is the first initiative in the world to bring together art, social entrepreneurship and youth.
